How bout powder coating??
Okay, so i baught these 18 inch Gunmetal wheels and was high advised to repaint them becuz the gunmetal is chipping, well my brother saw them today and offered to have them powdered black for me (he's the manager at a steel factory), I've worked there b4 and know how good the powder coat comes out on sheet metal, but how well does it work with aluminum and how does it do against chipping and stuff??..
if ne1 has Black powdered wheels i would love to see some pics!!!
thanks!!

I sent my 18 in. ss/sc wheels to a powdertech place and they bead blasted them really nice and they are powdercoated a glossy black! And the powdercoat really looks like it will not be chipping, I don't have them on yet.

The gunmetal wheels are actually powder coated, so they will have to be blasted. If you're going to run them all year I'd recommend getting an acrylic clear top coat. They should hold up much better than painted wheels though, even without clear.

okay , so here's my update... i was told i had to strip the wheels completely down to the aluminum, i've used two full cans of aircraft paint stripper, and all i've gotten off is the gumetal, there is a really thick coat of primer that i can hardly touch with the stripper... what should i do!!!???
okay so i've stripped the wheels as much i could with aircraft stripper... and this is as far as i can get... that stripper dont even touch the primer lol, and sand paper isnt hardly getting through it... any ideas??? =[
haha, yikes... the aircraft remover i uesd earlyer put acouple burn scars on my hands cuz i was to manly to put gloves on when my GF told me to... but then i was the one running inside yaulping when my hands started to burn up lolol fun times
