How Do I Get My Antenna Off Now..?

I bought a MPx shorty antenna off here from noorjariri, great seller btw.

Followed this guide: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-...na-mod-140229/

And now my antenna base is like half broken. I'M NOT BLAMING THE GUIDE THOUGH!

Didn't GAF about using a rag, as I was just assumed the stock antenna was gonna come off easy, so I scratched the **** out of it.

After trying, the base itself kinda moves around. Pretty sure I semi broke something.

Now trying to still get off the antenna, the smaller inner rubber circle pictured just spins.
I feel it spinning the cable inside the trunk too.

Where should I go from here to get the antenna off? Should I be worried about the base? I tugged on it and it stays, but it just kinda moves now.

Look behind the truck liner on the right side, there is a bracket with two bolts that is the antenna base. I broke the one on my ex gf's car when I cut her antenna down, I had to end up replacing the whole base assembly.

They rust themselves on there pretty damn good.

At least I know it's replacable. I couldn't really see as I parked backwards in my garage to do my HIDs, so I only felt around.

Do you have a part number? Does the base include the top rubber? I might just disassemble it all and get a new base and stick my shorty on it, if I end up breaking the whole thing.

I didn't realize until it was too late. I was just like **** it, this thing'll come off easy.
Either way, it's dumb of GM to use a mix of metals that are basically rusting together.
I sprayed that **** with PB Blaster and WD-40.

Unsure on the rubber, I bought one used from a member on here.

I had to replace hers as I broke the base bracket, so I was able to re-use the rubber and put a little grease under the antenna before I put it back on so it won't be stuck on there permanently anymore.

Although, i'll never work on her car again so IDGAF!!!

Well, I'm not sure exactly how the antenna base works, so dunno if it's like dropped through the top and the rubber is a part of it, you know? Not that it matters, since mine is fine.

Would this work or something completely different?

2005-2010 Chevrolet Cobalt Radio Antenna Bracket OEM New | eBay

So the antenna base rusted to the bracket some how and just broke with torque, correct?
Is it possible that the bracket broke?

Thanks for your help. I'll order that.

Question though. Since my stock antenna is still on there, how would I get the old base out since my antenna is still attached to it?

well mine was not attached to the bracket it, the antenna was broken off and just attached to the bracket with some zip ties so i just pushed the whole antenna thru the hole into the trunk. in your case if its still attached to the bracket maybe take the two bolts off and try and push the antenna in to the trunk

Hmm. Okay.
I may just end up hack sawing it to shorten it down if it doesn't work.
Thanks for your help.

Gotcha.

I just realized 15249989 is the new bracket with the 6.5/7mm thread.
The shorty I'm trying to put on will be a thread off now.

I didn't care about the stocker getting scratched as it would never go back on in place of the shorty I have.

Well first off thanks for the kind words

Second I did the same exact thing, I should have warned you to be careful taking the old one off. If you buy the bracket off eBay it will not work with that antenna cause that's what I did and ended up having to buy the 07+ antenna. My suggestion would be to look around at a salvage for the bracket from an 05-06 they would sell it for cheap, or go to the dealer and get raped sorry it didn't work out for you man
