How Do You........??

Hey guys,

So, I'm going to continue to paint the rest of my stock silver trim here soon, and in doing this, I need to paint my door handles. They're chipped up anyway, so this'll look better. But first, I need to figure out how to get them off.. How do you remove the inside door handle grabbers? IE, the things that are silver/grey factory and go around the window, mirror, lock controls. I know there's a small tab inside there, but what else do you do? Do you lift up on that and there's a bolt underneath? I assume that when you remove a bolt or something that the one side lifts up and the other side slides into a holder like on the rear marker lights.. Any help would be great..

Thanks!!

So pull up on the clip, un-do two bolts inside, lift out, de-tatch? That's what I figured.. Is it easy to remove the buttons and such then? Then reassemble everything..

don't pull up so hard u break the clip ..i took apart mine 2 days ago for paint as well ....basically push in the tab at the back..pull up a bit..and i found it really usefull to use a smaller allen key to put under the cover and then just put ur finger on top and slide it back so u don't break the clip..should be pretty easy

oh and as for the buttons..its pretty easy but i found the button for the sideview mirror moving **** to be a pain to take off cause the **** is enclosed on all sides really tight

Hmm.. So just kinda wiggle **** free as it'd seem to move but don't do it too hard so you break it? lol

I did the dash trim all in gloss black, so I'm doing the door handles, shift knob and shift trim ring (auto) to match.. It'll look legit..

I used 2 flat head screw drivers. One to hold the clip in so it will release. The other to slide under the piece and lift up. It WILL BREAK if you pry it to much.

Everything is plug and play. They have a clip retainer that if you use your flat head to push down will help when you pull everything apart.

Thats exactly what I did. Wasn't too bad. Not half as bad as pulling the steering wheel controls apart though...lol. You just have to be careful that you don't pull everything too far apart cause it won't hold the switches in place if you "stretch out" the little clip things too much...

Kinda like on the dash trim clips.. I've removed those one too many times, so they're floppy.. lol. Good thing I'm getting a new set of clips!
