How to fix my tint

I got my windows done the other day in 20% all around... and it all looks fine and dandy except the top of the back window where the dot matrix is. It looks like HELL.

The guy is like "oh yeah, its the best I can do for that.... sorry" I tried getting him to fix it and do vinyl or something but hes being a.... yeah....

How can I fix this myself? what have people done? How do i do the vinyl thing or where can I buy it?

What about tinting the window from the outside?

idk about everyone else but mine is tinted on the outside. you cant even tell though. and the best/easiest way is just a vinyl strip on the inside.

Just the top is tinted on the outside? or the whole window?? What effect does the elements have on it?

Hm, I should ask the guy if he would be willing to re-do that.

Well the dot matrix is on the inside, not the outside... so it shouldnt matter if I did it on the outside right?
My other friend said get literally a VINYL like a rear window decal strip for the top to cover the imperfections..
but i laughed at that solution haha

Black paint. That's what I've seen done for the DOT matrix. I've had that done to two prior vehicles. I gotta go look at mine now. I dunno whats on my ss. lol. let me go see....

Edit... I bought my cobalt used and its tint is really dark probly like %5 and it must hide it better cause its not too bad. I would try the vinyl though on the inside. it's less messy.

No tinter should EVER tint on the outside. Tint isn't strong enough to withstand the elements, or things such as ice scrapers in the winter.

The only thing you can do is put a vinyl strip across the top, then tint the window normally (as has been said). Personally, mind looks just like yours because thats the way the dot matrix is. Fact of life...like death lol.

I highly doubt the tinter will want to redo it, since they all end up like that. If you want him to put a vinyl strip in there instead, then he will probably charge you for removing the old tint and then re-tinting the window after. Best option is to forget about it (though the tinter should have warned you about the dot matrix anyways prior to tinting the back)

the guy who did my tint said

"dude, cobalts have these ****** black dots on the top of the rear window that makes the tint look fucked up there"

trust me, the guy was some weird stoner but he did a superb job on the car though

my dot is legit tinted. i got my whole car tinted at one place but when i went to a different shop when i had to remove the 20 off my front 2 windows a the guy told me thats one of the best tinted rear window hes seen. and this is coming from one of the bigger known tint shops in my area.

the orig guy said he used a special glue. and i can tell because there was alot left on my window and my head liner by the top of the windshield

u can put vinyl on the inside its pretty easy... also another method is to use elmers glue.the tint has to be tint installed and wet and u peel the top part of the tint...and u proceed to put glue at the beginning and you squeegy it out and it will fill the dot matrix...tell ur tinter to use the glue method, if he doesnt know how to do that, then he dont dont know ****.... i know this because i tint cars myself!!!!
also dont listen to bpacak ... word of advice kids a tool.
