HVAC w/red LEDs

I've read through the whole HVAC led how to and I couldn't find an answer to this. How do you get red to really show red (evenly). It seemed like the OP of the thread figured it out but never said how. I would PM him but he hasn't been on since December of last year. I tried changing mine this past weekend but it's very dim and not even. Thanks for any help.

basically you have to build a grid of LEDs behind it. If you only add the red LEDs where all the factory bulbs were it will be very dull. You need to add extra LEDs to get the extra brightness.

So I guess it would be better to get a LED strip/s like this:

ALUMINUM INDOOR PCB LIGHT STRIPLIGHT - Strip Lights - Auxillary - Shop Products

Other than that I don't know how to do a grid since there is only the 4 mounting points on the circuit board.
