Unhappy I hit a handrail...

Well guys when I went into my local Chevy dealer Thursday evening to get a replacement seatbelt guide for my passenger seat I had a slight mishap. When I came out of the dealer I noticed an Escalade sort of had the exit blocked (I was in the service garage). I figured I could squeeze around it and get out so I tried it. I eventually noticed I couldn't fit through, but before I stopped I heard a cr-r-r-r-ruuuuuunch! On my drivers side. I looked out my window and seen I had hit a handrail. I pulled up and noticed the guy in the Escalade walking toward it to move it, after the damage was already done. I pulled out of the garage and got out to notice a huge dent in the middle of my door and scratches from the top to bottom.

I went to Advance Auto and got some spray touch up paint and sand paper. Luckily about 95% of the scratches were simply paint transfer from the handrail. The parts that weren't I sectioned off with masking tape, sanded a bit, and painted them. It looks great, except for the dent. I'm going to check around next week about getting it fixed. A whole new door would be a total waste, but you know mechanics!

I'm going to drive my Moms Blazer until I get my door fixed. Not because I have to, but because I don't want the general public to see my 'balt in such a condition

Yea I think the damage would have been a lot worse without the side molding. I think everything can be salvaged, so let's hope. I was hit by an idiot driving on the wrong side of the road last summer in the Blazer (before I had my own car) and it damaged the grill, front bumper, and drivers side fender. We had to get a whole new bumper but the guy we had fix it was able to save the grill and fender, so I don't know why he can't make my door like new too, but you never know! I've learned to always expect the worse in situations. I'll try and get some pics later today.

Here it is...

I met with a guy today about removing the dent and he said it was too bad. The guy that tinted my windows and has done body work in the past can get it out and paint the area to match for about $250. Not as bad as I was expecting, but definitely not as great as simply getting the dent removed for $50.

Not worth it lol. My friend had one, his dad used it exactly as the directions said, and it made the dent worse. It was on a Sunfire, the dent was about 2 inches or so in diameter before, and about 6 or 7 inches in diameter after

I got my fair share of war scars too. A ding on my driver side door from a shopping basket, a tiny ding on my rear bumper around my tag....know idea how that got there.....and of course my fair ship of paint chips (all of which are touched up via GM touch up paint) and I bottomed out my sideskirts on a speedbump once, touched that up too. Oh the joys of having one and only one car that serves as a daily driver, race car and occasional show car, lol.
