I just bought this.
If you bought the OEM fog lights, I have read that the mount directly to the front facia, which unless you had fogs lights to begin with, you don't have the correct facia... Do a search for more info. Not 100% sure if I am remembering it right...
not sure how the 08's are, but i know my 2.2 when i had one had the spots to hook up the fogs. they just put a different grill insert over the fog holes since i didn't have fogs on mine. if you have those spots already there, that takes care of the major stuff. all that's left is the wiring, which i know absolutely zero about so i won't give any input.
if you don't have the spot already to hook up the fogs, you'll probably need to get a new front bumper.
if you look at this pic, you can see the grills covering the foglight holes. those grills just pop out, and you'll see the spot to install them from behind.

The LS bumper does NOT have provisions for fog lights. youll need to fab brackets and cut holes.
The LT bumper DOES have provisions for fog lights. You simply pop out the black grilles on the left and right side of the car and youll see the preexisting holes for the factory foglights. You then either cut holes in your stock LT grilles or you buy the grilles for an LT w/fog lights(I think they are like $30 each.
Again, if you have an LS your fascia is all one piece and the lower "grille" areas are molded in.
If youve got an LT you will have snapin black plastic grilles(regardless of car color)
LS's do NOT have factory fog light wiring. Neither do low option LTs. the only way you MAY have factory fog light wiring is iff youve got an LT with cruise and radio controls.

My LT has lots of options, what am I specifically looking for to know if the wiring is preinstalled?
Okay, first and very simply, if your car did not have fog lights to start with, then there are no provision in the car for mounting or for wiring. Period. I don't care which facia you have.
If you have the black plastic inserts on your facia that don't have the fog cut outs, then you also don't have the mounts behind that black plastic. Again, it doesn't matter which facia you have.
If you want factory fogs and you didn't have them to start with, you would need to replace your facia, get a wiring harness, switch, dashboard trim, and probably even have to flash your BCM for the switch logic.
Or you could just get some aftermarket fogs and wiring them up yourself for lot less money.

Does anyone know if the 06 SS fog lights have the same mounting as the 06 LT fog lights? Yes I know they have a differant bumper, just want to know if the fog lights are the same part for both...
Well, scrach my hope / idea...

If you pull out the left side dash trim(where your dimmer is) if youve got foglight wiring the harness/connector will be taped to the wires going to the dimmer knob. just follow the dimmer wires into the dash until you get to their breakout from the larger harness, if you dont come across another set of wires and a connector taped to this dimmer harness then you dont have the factory provisions for the wiring.
All Cobalt BCMs can be optioned to control the fog lights, I have the option turned on in my LS right now(dont ask why)
If youve got an LT with those removable plastic grilles on the left and right when you look inside the fascia youll see very clearly where the fog lights mount. There is only one LT fascia, the difference between a fog light car and a non fog car is the outer grilles.
You WILL not have underhood harnesses for the forg lights though, no exceptions.
