Ideas for a new silver SS sedan?
Ideas for a new silver SS sedan?
Hey everyone,
I'm finally getting a Cobalt SS this weekend and I am between a black sedan with 23k miles on it (front brakes and clutch are 50% shot and rear brakes and front tires were replaced by the dealer) and a silver sedan with 9k on it (in brilliant condition). Both are 2009 and for similar prices. I don't have anything against silver in particular but I have always had a weak spot for black cars and have always wanted one lol. I'm probably going to go with the silver though due to the differences in condition. Since a respray in black would be prohibitively expensive, anyone have any less costly ideas as to how I could make the exterior a bit less plain?
Also, I saw a white sedan with the front and rear bumpers of the coupe. It looked brilliant, though I have no idea how he did it as the quarter panels shouldnt match up like that lol. Any ideas?
Heres a link to the white sedan (pictures below show installation):

Thanks a bunch in advance everyone!

Yeah that white sedan is brilliant eh? I'd kill for that rear bumper lol. When I test drove a sedan and coupe I noticed that the sedan was even more solid in the turns. did anyone else notice this (who has driven both of course lol)?
For my silver SS sedan, I made the SS emblems red instead of white. It helps break up the all silver car with silver wheels. I also painted my calipers red too, front with white Brembo stickers and rear. Making the SS emblems black would look nice too, as that would make them stand out more and also flow with the interior.
Over the winter, I am going to get my wheels powder coated, but I am not sure what I will do yet. I don't want them black, but maybe a dark grey. The silver car and silver wheels is a bit much. It is just like a black car, with black wheels, dark black tinted windows, and an all black interior. For me, a small amount of color change can go far.
Small changes help break up the color and still look good.

I looked at the same exact car I have now, but the sedan, looking back, I should of got the sedan, didnt know they made so little, and now im in a situation where a 4 door would be better, which was / usually not the case. O well
thanks for all the ideas guys! I just picked up the silver today (spoiler on it) and it is incredible. This car is fast as hell AND handles like a dream! Amazing for a FWD lol. I wasn't so sure about the sedan or the silver color a few days ago but both are growing on me and fast lol. I was thinking about getting the rims powdercoated a gunmetal color sometime too if I can find a good price. Some tint and a runner stripe down the bottom of the doors perhaps. Or maybe some fender hashes. So many possibilities lol! I think everything I'd do would be grey though so it would change things up a bit but not stand out too much. Cops love me! I got over 20 tickets (most for 5 over too if you can believe that) in a '98 Buick so yeah... lol
Congrads on the new car. Yes, they are fast and they really can handle too. On the highway doing a reasonable speed they get great mpg too. My neighbor hates my car, thats because I can keep up with his '05 Mustang in a straight line. In the corners he could not stay with this car. Wait, i could probably out run him now
For changing the SS inlays, I bought the stickers from this place, so has a lot of people on this site:
House of Grafx, Your One Stop Vinyl Shop
They have been very durable. Mine have been on since the spring. Lets see how they hold through winter.
I noticed that you live in Michigan, the Conti tires that are stock on these cars suck when it gets cold. You might want to look into some good winter tires.

or a 2009 never purchased sport red tintcoat sedan with limo tint all the way around.
I wanted the coupe, I wanted him to find a black one and ship it in, and then my dealer said look at both cars, look the coupe, and let me say two words to you:
chick. car.
And I **** you not, I saw it. it reminded me of every sunfire, every beretta, etc. The inimitable chick cars. And not being able to un-see that, I bought the sedan.
I've never been so happy with a purchase in my life! And then I started learning about the true rarity of the sedan SS versions, and I was that much happier. So all in all, thrilled!
yeah I was all over the coupe and didn't even give the sedan a thought at first. My dad told me it looked like a neon and the salesman said the same thing: chick car lol. I still like the coupe though don't get me wrong, but each time I leave my place and see my sedan parked there I like it more and more lol. Nothing beats a sleeper!
Silver's a lot rarer of a color.
If the car still has pinstripes from the factory, they really help hold the lines of the car. Also a relatively dark tint is a must.
I painted my grilles black as well as a flat black plasti-dip evo mod and it looks pretty hot. (sig is not updated).
Wingless, lowered and debadged always looks good too. Make sure to paint your rotors (but do it well) the paint R2 concepts offers looks and works great. It'll look good and help protect them.
