I'm getting 16" wheels for my LT. Covince me on 17s

17's will make the car slower, have less traction, rougher ride, and more expensive tires to replace.
i would stick with the 16's, unless you care more about appearance than performance.

ever see a slick on a 19" rim? bet ya havent. because they don't make them. and there's a reason for that. even the stock 18's are not good for speed. they are heavy as ****. smaller wheel usually = less wieight and less rotational mass which is very good for performance.
big wheels are for show cars. look at what race cars use. granted, the cobalt is not by any means a race car, and i'm not saying it is. but it does make a difference.
so i mean it really depends. do 16's look better than 17's or 18'S? that's just preference, and most people think that a bigger wheel looks better. but when it comes to performance, bigger is absolutely not better.

Ooooh, my wheels are a whopping 1" bigger than your SS/TC and the wheels you had on your 2.4SS. They're 24.5lbs a piece, which is LIGHTER than everyone's beloved stock SS/SC wheels. Plus, even when I went from my stock 17"s to my 19"s, I didn't even noticed a real performance defecit. If it is there, its very minimal.
Plus, I still have my stockers for the TRACK. B/c I don't race on the street. Takes a whole 5 min to switch out my front two wheels for my stockers on track day.
I'll keep my 19"s thank you.
On a final note, my car......
street car > race car. If I buy a purpose built race car, then i'll get some tiny wheels.

generally, it's a compromise when looking at rim size.
i like the 17s that i have, i think they have just enough sidewall to look sporty, but at the same time are big enough for just a little "bling"

Depends on the car really. I had 17"s on my 2nd gen RX-7 and I thought they looked great. But when I got the SS I originally put 18"s w/ a lip, and thought they looked tiny. So I made the switch to 19"s and I think it looks 100% better.

meanwhile, on a truck, 17 is on the small side.

Yeah. My roomates EK hatch has some 16" Rota GT3's on it, and it looks perfect. Anything bigger on it would look retarded.

Do 16's with white lettered tires. I have never seen that done on a cobalt before. I was contemplating doing that to mine once I pick up an extra set of 16's. The 18's look nice but they are heavy as hell.
