Inside door control panel

Ok, so I had brought my car to chevy a while back to fix the silver door control panel where the lock and window buttons are on the passenger side because it wasn't sitting flush with the door panel. So they pop the piece to try and tighten it and broke the piece that pops up. So I wanted to know if it's hard to replace it yourself because I rather not have them mess with it at the dealership. So if anyone has done this please let me know, thanks.

i just used some of that sticky black caulking **** under the piece...its like the blue fun tack u use to stick things on ur walls only stronger...in fact they use it to seal the plastic membrane thats under the door panel
