I took the clip off and tried to tighten the screws but they're as tight as they will go. I got this car as a graduation from high school present. It's gotten dinged up and I'm trying to act like a grown up and start actually repairing it and taking good care of it. I'll start with this because I'm hoping it's simple. Any ideas.

 

GM has addressed this problem. There is a beauty ring that goes around the bottom

pull it totally out by taking out screws and disconnect electrical input and pull up. kinda like a shark fin holder on the outside of it that may be broken
