Interior Button Coloring..?

Hey guys..

Wanted to see something.. I was in my girlfriends friends new Hyundai Elantra today.. If you've never been in a newer Hyundai, their big this is these VERY blue gauges/lights/etc.. However I love the way the window buttons / climate knobs / etc. look.. Is there any way to change the color of our knobs / buttons / etc. ? I know you could on my old Accord.. It was a simple light bulb basically.. I'd assume it'd be some kind of LED, but you might be able to substitute it with another one..? Not that it's a big deal, but it'd certainly be different, and cool to do at the same time.. Any ideas..?

Thanks!

* I tried to find a picture at night with the lights online but couldn't.. But most new Hyundais have these blue lights mentioned.. *

all hail the sharpie mod, basically you take the peice out and color it the color you want with a sharpie get a good descent coverage and it works great... on some of the other cobalt forums there are how tos.

Exactly.. I'll do it if need be though.. I think that on the Honda that you either replaced the bulb it's self or you used basically a color overlay similar to what you'd use on a studio lighting kit for photography to tint the lens.. But if it's a simple LED, it'd probably be easiest to replace it.. I'm just worried how the Sharpie would look over time.. I'd get kinda dull and gross..

i can't exactly post up a link, cause they will block the link anyhow... but i will tell you it works, the outcome looks good. their are several other cobalt sites... hit me up with a pm i'll let you in on them. or give me your email addy and i'll give you a direct link.

as far as your guage cluster is concerned do a google search for black cat custom guages they make them for the cobalt and they can do custom ones however you like, but for the hvac and dic buttons the sharpie mod is cheapest and best method there is also some other stuff you can buy at a craft store that is mentioned in the sharpie mod how to, its some sort of transparent acrylic paint i believe that works better.

check the how to. I think it's done with different color transparent paper. Celaphane I think. You shouldve checked the how to first

some guy did it to his gauge cluster and another to his steering wheel buttons

This was my original post on the subject. It was very simple and it worked great with red.

No no.. Not worried about the gauges really.. I'm trying to do the climate control / window / lock buttons first.. I'll worry about the gauges later.. I've already got a radio, so not worried about that..
