interior door handle

I need to replace an interior door handle on my 2005 cobalt ss / sc. The chrome paint is peeling, and the plate that it mounts to is broken. Anybody have any suggestions on where to order one? Also, if the website you find offers a replacement boot for the shifter that would be great, mine's worn down quite a bit.

Mines doing the same. Summer project I haven't started yet. Do you know if you have to remove the door panel to get that off?

Mines a year old and the chrome wrapping is all bubbled up too. I think my warranty will take care of this though. I figure you can maybe find a handle from a totaled balt at a yard somewhere and rip it out...???

Dealership is the best bet.

Do you have to remove the panel? I took it out without disconnecting it to look at it. (mines doing the same ****) and it looked like I could disconnect it without removing the panel, but I wasn't sure if the connecting rod would fall into the panel if I did disconnect it.

I just painted mine with plasti-dip, came out really good. Not sure how it is gonna hold up but it is fine so far after about a month. You DO NOT need to remove the door panel. It's very easy to remove them and put them back in, but it takes a little figuring out.

Edit: Scottie you don't have to worry about that. Unhook the little clip that holds that rod onto the handle, and it comes right out. To put it back in just put the rod back in the slot and put the clip back together.

inner door handle

I just replaced my innner door handle today. That think takes all of about 30 seconds to replace. Just take the inner tab off with a flat head screwdriver and take the philips head screw out and pry from the front with the flat head screwdriver and it pops right out. the clip unclips from the bottom just push it backwards and it comes right off. then install the new one opposite of the way you took out the old. Its really that simple... I picked up a new one on ebay for less than 20 bucks.
