k2 led tail lights resistors
k2 led tail lights resistors
So I just bought the k2 led tail lights. I know they need resistors so they dont hyperflash.
Where did yall that have these mount the resistors? Also, do the resistors get real hot?
On a side note, my switchbacks should be coming shortly, and those need resistors as well. Where did yall mount them?

I got mine from Superbrightleds.com
Mounted them behind the carpet piece on the inside of the quarter panel. They get warm but not hot. Radio shack also has resistors.
Mounted them with double face tape. Tucked out of site and work great.

thanks guys. this will come in handy. Recieved my led tails from k2 motor today and the outer tails with the leds came damaged with the circuit board that holds the leds clanging around inside because the hot glue that holds them in place was done like crap. now gotta wait for new ones grrr

I use to have the resistors but one night while I was driving through New Haven I started smelling smoke and all of the sudden smoke started pouring in from my trunk. The resistors had some how gotten in contact with the side trunk carpeting without me knowing and they started melting the carpeting so I just chucked them becuz i didnt want anything like that to happen again, and honestly i kinda like the hyper flash now

lol i prefer the hyper flash. but ya i can see that happening. if you really wanted to do it right you would use thermal grease on the back side and screw them in to the a piece of metal. also put them in a location that is somewhat secure from touching anything

When im stopped then yes regular speed ftw but when im driving especially on the highway i dont alow much time to do lane changes. so with hyper flash it actually flashes a few times before i turn it off bc im in the correct lane
I had originally tried to secure my resistors with double sided tape but sometime within the first week they got so hot they melted the tape and then proceeded to melt a hole through my carpet lining on both sides, i was super pissed. After that i screwed them in to the metal with a self tapping screw and that did the trick. Speaking of these tail lights though, i had to go back to stock today unfortunately because the plastic clips that hold the reverse lights in place broke off (probly from hitting a hard bump or rail road tracks or something). I had them for about 1.5 years.
