L.E.D. Talilights

So i just bought an '09 Black Base Coupe and i was wondering if the lights in the link below (any of them) will work in this model/year? If anyone has them on an '09 lemme know how they look and work and if they were an easy replacement over the stock ones? Thanks everyone! :cssNET:

P.S. Which set would look best with my black car? Let me know!

glen229 12-01-2008 04:35 PM

yes... plz for the love of god do not get those chrome ones haha

and try modernperformance.com.. there a supporting vendor here .. get the smoked ones.. alot cheaper than that too@

nich7601 12-01-2008 04:36 PM

I personally think that set is ugly regardless of color. I prefer (and have) these:

NiceBaltSS 12-01-2008 04:42 PM

ha trust me, i would never get those chrome ones! And thanks for the link nich7601 , i'll check those out! The only thing is that i want to have all of my lights on the back L.E.D. so are the backups or the ones surrounding the backups L.E.D. as well?

DoubleLP 12-01-2008 05:04 PM

Just the outside ones are. You can also get an LED 3rd brake light from Modern Performance.

nich7601 12-01-2008 05:39 PM

The ones surrounding the backup lights don't light up at all
(stock or otherwise)

You might be right, maybe it's just the backup light itself that lights up. We never really see the back lights so i can never remeber haha

nich7601 12-01-2008 06:28 PM

it is just the backup lights, i just checked. Red rings are just for looks, no lights

NiceBaltSS 12-01-2008 06:37 PM

Alright, thanks alot. I think i'm actually gonna go with the ones you have and also convert the third brake light while i'm at it!

nich7601 12-01-2008 07:00 PM

thats what I have also...I guess I could have just showed you this picture right off the bat:

wardzach2007 12-01-2008 08:14 PM

^^Nice.

Those are the two things I want to get in the future.

hilty003 12-01-2008 08:22 PM

nich7601, did u ventshade the red part on the back up lights to match the brake lights then? they kinda look smoked too. same with the side markers.

nich7601 12-01-2008 08:47 PM

The modern performance is a 4 piece set, so the backup lights are tinted to match from the company.

The side markers were smoked by the previous owner, with SS logos in them somehow. Whoever he was, he did a helluva job, its one of my favorite small details of the car:

keep in mind that this isnt a real recent pic and since then i redid the nightshades and just blacked them out. the good thing is, these things are bright as hell lol

o3nisoaso3 12-01-2008 10:05 PM

modern performance is the way to go!!!!!!!!!! altho you need a resistor or the turn signals blink fast cuz of the lower call for power. (pics in post 13) but i love mine from them and they look best imo

BlackSSNick 12-01-2008 10:07 PM

I have the modern performance smoked LED tail lights and love them. My 3rd brake light is also LED but I can't hit the brake in this picture cuz im taking the picture lol.

Interesting. I hate the annoying fast blinking.

Try here for resistors. http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

This is how I spliced mine but yours will more than likely be different because yours are not custom made. All that you want to do is find the wire that is the turn signal and splice the resistor into it. Try to keep the resister away from any plastic because they do get hot enough to melt it.

:lol::lol: I have the chrome ones too...and ended up painting them with Duplicolor metalcast anodize red paint. Gave them a nice deep red. In the sunlight the chrome still shines through and makes them look a light red.

After:

the modern performance is the next thing on my list!

they're smoked too correct? are they still bright enough for lighting up the curb at night?

zay52790 12-02-2008 02:30 AM

the ipcw ones look sick tinted, but the inner ones stick out a bit to much, it looks weird.
i like the modern perf ones, but id realy like it if the had led in the inner lights to match

xCobalt05x 12-02-2008 02:32 AM

i have the chrome LEDs. in the process of removing the lenses and paint matching the chrome to victory red. same goes for my chrome halo's.

warrenb213 12-02-2008 03:44 AM

anyone have the modern perf ones with the inners done?

As an option -- Check out the Duplicolor metalcast anodized red -- it lays out smooth with no mottling. Before I sprayed it on my taillights I tried it out on a mirror and was surprized at how well it covered the surface evenly. If you want a "smoked" appearance 4 coats will make it a deep dark cherry red (I just went with 2 coats).

Yea, the inner ones do stick out about 3/4" more than stock. It is due to the inards of the lights -- has a circuit board behind the LEDs. It is nice to have all 4 taillights work, and once you plug them in there are no electrical problems (don't need to use resistors) -- they are "plug and play".
