LaMbO dOoRs

im getting my doors on the 22nd and wanted to do a how-to tread... but i need ur guys help first

i got experience with the engine of the cobalt since i put the exhaust and stage 2 on by myself, but im not to good with the other parts. My question is is there a certain way to take off these doors or a easy way to get it done or anything that can help me with the project... also i was thinking about instead of cutting the fender wall, i would just make a bubble big enough for the hinge not to touch??possible or just a waste of time?

O and yes i need tips on doing a how-to so i dont get flammed for a shity how-to

I haven't done it personally yet. Talked to a friend a little that has already done it. He said one of the most time consuming things was lengthening the wire harnesses. On his, I THINK he said there are like 26 wires on driver's side and 19 on passenger. You have to cut and splice all of them to give the harness enough length to fold out and up not just out. Just wanted to give you a little idea of what all is involved, that's just for starters. You still have a lot of other things to do. Depending on who you buy your hinges from, depends on how detailed the directions are. Hope that helps a little

I've talked to a couple guys that have them. SSON20s had the wires extended like you speak of. meaning hours upon hours of work.

OR

You can do what Playswitcars did. He just pulled the wires from the clips that held it in place. According to him, there is MORE than enough length once they are removed from the clips.

Installation isnt really that hard to do....its just time consuming. As long as you got the tools and arent retarded you can install anything

When you pull your door panel off look at the wires that are in the door....if you pull a few off it will give you enough slack in it to where you dont have to extend the wires for the door to go up. Cuz there was no way i was going to cut my wires and extend them if i didnt need too

I forget the other members name that said he did it but as Plays said there was one person who pulled out the clips holding the wiring to get it enough play so that he didnt have to extend the wiring and that saved a lot of time. As also stated the Vertical doors and CA kits are direct bolt ons... so it should be TOO hard you just need to have a helping hand and the tools.

My biggest question(s) (and Plays you can probably answer this for me) How much trouble was it cutting the fender walls to get the clearance for the hinge.. About how much of the time did that take up??

yea there is a whole other thread where SS and Plays go back and forth. Plays has vertical doors, SS has CA. the hole in the fender isn't huge, lot of guys think you could prob take a heat gun and mold the well to make room.

I am def looking into this for next year.
