Lambo Doors / Flip Top Trunk
Lambo Doors / Flip Top Trunk
Last night I watched the Do It Yourself network's Triked out! and they did a Lambo Doors / Flip Top Trunk conversion on a 2000 civic si. the lambo doors were from DECAH DOORS and after a little research from their web site they are about $940.00 US.
But for the Flip Top trunk they used door hinges and some self tapping screws for a total of about $8.00 us. after the show I ran out side ( in my pajamas in 30* f.) and checed out my LT. now the trunk supports are a little different, Cobalts have a solid flat support and hondas are square (in more than one way, lol) really they are. so I went back inside after tucking my LT back in bed and thought about it and it can be done, so this morning I woke up early as hell, plugged in my digital camera and went to the hardware store so stand by at the HOW TO forums for this mod( its supposed to rain all weekend so maybe next.
the lambo doors will take some time ( and money ) to get, but I am accepting donations.
I might be new to this site, but Ive been around tuners ( used to own a 98 civic ex).
expect more DIY projects.

Auto Loc has a set a lambo door hinges for the two door cobalt but you cant leave your interior door panel on because of clearence issuse with the A-pilar and a flip flop trunk wont work because the cobalts trunk is lifted by two small hydralics and not the conventional tube lift that the cavalier and sunfire had. Dont believe me go check it out yourself at www.autoloc.com

welcome to the site...I can't wait to see what you accomplish. Those aren't my thing though.
lol, are u kidding???? I plan on leaving my body work pretty much stock..Ex. CF Hood + Trunk... while making it a pretty much racecar as passible, and lambo doors were still on the slate! lol r u guys crazy? u don;t like em? besides that, how many ppl u think are gunna doem! cuz they are pretty $$$$$$ I think Lambo doors are hot, and give em
2 thumbs up!! F'n A
You want it as racecar as possible but yet you're going to ADD weight with a mod that makes the car look hideous. I'm puzzled as to the logic there. I think Lambo doors are hideous and a waste of money, a lot of people end up having problems with them. There's a shop that just opened up in my neighborhood that does Lambo doors. They've been open since January and I have YET to see a car in there getting them installed. I'd rather take $1k and flush it down the toilet than have those things on my car.
lambo doors are called lambo doors for a reason, they belong on a lambo, nothing else, period.
As for the trunk, why would you do that, its gonna look like a pile of crap. go take that money and buy somethin else.
my $0.02

Am I the only one who thinks our trunk lids are a bit small(front to back) to even want to to try a Flip mod on them? As for the Lambo doors, pure waste, but hey, while you're at it, go ahead and get the forward opening hood, then it'll be ugly on all sides.

thanks for all of your opinions, I'm still doing the flip top trunk and post it, I think its a nice mod and it makes the car stand out in shows, Lambo doors are hot and have been in music videos and car shows ( they are expensive), im not getting into a pissing contest here, the best thing about having your own car is doing what you want to it.

At the end of it all, that is the remaining fact across the board...It's your car, you're making the payments on it(I hope)..Have at it.

It's your money and your car. Do what you want but I think those mods are very stupid.

Don't bash the guy though. To each his own. I think it will be interesting to see the trunk conversion. I'm not that big into the lambo doors but i'm interested in seeing how the trunk works out.
