The last pc rocker cover

The last pc rocker cover
Under our current program we prepare LNF, LSJ and LE5 etc roccker covers for 110 to 175 exchange depending on color and cover.
We have prepped our last LNF cover for Justin, and JapEtr's LSJ cover is in the oven. After that we wont offer this service anymore.
Just as the Brembo PC exchange program failed due to the cost of prep and the condition of cores, the rocker cover deal is going the same way.
Its possible to pc covers cheaply. But the risk, as we have seen in some return cores, is a pc vendor putting to much heat on the cover and melting the seperators. Further, there is always the potential of media blast residue falling into the oil seperator biscuits in the cover and therefore potential for engine damage.
Its taking me an average of three hours to chase threads, polish logos and clean covers after PC, and thats inspite of bolting the covers to a slave cylinder head, for both prep and pc. That makes the whole process awkward as well, the assembly weighs over a 100 pounds that has to be moved, prepped coated and hung in the oven.
If we dont take care of the covers the way we do, then there is a risk that the crap in the cover will go in your motor and blow it up. There are vendors who will pc covers cheaply I strongly suspect that one engine blow up was assisted by a cover with melted seperators.
A typical automotive paint job on a cover can cost as much as 300.00
That said, thanks to all our customers who have had covers pc'd by us. We just would prefer in future, if you want this done, that you go somewhere else to get them coated . Good luck in your quest.
prepped for PCV upgrade with threaded port:
Hydrographic printing is very attractive: 350.00 This is NOT done by us
We will still PC inlet manifolds; textured black is a favorite practical coating.
Polishing is possible; less possibility of grit to get inside and no heat to risk the seperator biscuits. This polished Redline of mine is very well done, but it takes a lot of time and the upkeep will drive you completely out of your mind; clear coating the polished finish will dull the result...
Back in 2005 the Time Attack Cobalt had a polished TVS M62 the final engine install had a black PC block. We have done some blocks here PC its not a job I care to do and the risk of dirt and grit is so great its not worth considering in my opinion

Nominal oven temp for PC is 300-400 deg Fahrenheit. Oil temperature can be tolerated to 300 degrees CELSIUS. 572 f. Iif a less than stellar PC person uses a home oven and does not have a reliable calibrated temp controller bad things can happen. This melted cover the problem was found out the hard way lol

So you know, tomorrow it will take about an hour or so more, to chase the threads in the Japetr cover, then degrease and soak in water then pressure water feed through the seperators, to make sure there is no residue that got in there. This washing is a process we do BEFORE we media blast and coat. We seal the cover off to make sure crap doesnt get in, then we wash it again as described to make 100% sure, and then use compressed air to dry it off then ( in summer) sit in the sun, in winter light heat in the oven. Tehn package and shop. I get tired just writing about it....
