yep, just go onto vleds.com and buy a 194 wedge base bulb. Fits in the stock socket.

I one for mine but I haven't gotten around to changing it. I think I'll wait until the stock one burns out first

194. Make sure it is one that is multi LED with LED's covering all sides of the bulbs. Getting just a top output LED only makes it really dim with our housings.

If I could get away with not running a plate light, I would

I mainly went with LED since they're not nearly as easy to burn out. The cops around here will light you up soley for a plate light if they're bored or just looking for an excuse to see if they can catch you off guard for something that they cannot establish probable cause for to pull you over to begin with.

Yep I have a pure white LED from superbrightleds.com and it looks nice. Not too bright but looks more upper class to me than the stock 194.... also bought 5 smd led 194s for the maplights also in pure white. Gives it a richer feel. Most people who have ridden in my car have liked them. (except for drunks )

Is it illegal in NY to have a different colored bulb? I was going to order the green one. I know NY has tons of bullshit laws, just curious if I can do something different without being pulled over for more idiotic reasons.

i bout the light strip at advanced auto, it is about 30 LEDs on a strip and on the back it has tape. i first unscrewed the rear taglight assembly, it come down about a foot hanging by two wires, find the pos+ wire and find the neg- wire, then find the pos+ and the neg- wire on the light strip, then splice the pos+ wires together and splice the neg- wires together. put on shrink wrap or electrical tape and screw it back in. then stick the light strip above the tag. but make sure to take out the 194 bulb that is in the assembly or it will look wierd with both glowing. tuck the wires in amd your done.
