Exclamation LED Load Resistor placement - Behind tail lamp?

I just got some Plasma LED bulbs for my tail lights. Of course they give me a rapid flash turn signal, so I also bough two 50W, 6Ohm resistors.
These large ones with the integrated heat dissipation fins These large ones with the integrated heat dissipation fins
.

I currently have one wired to the harness behind the RH tail light. Initial tests confirmed this thing gets hot pretty fast (Within 2 minutes of constant flashing).

I am wondering if anyone here has mounted these behind the tail lamp assembly as I have and if they have had problems with failure of the resistor in that location?

I know there are other possible locations but this seemed to make the most sense to me at the time and although it's been running for two weeks with no problems, I am hesitant to put in the LH one until I ask others. I make more LH turns than RH turns!

I have them double sided-taped to the body of the car(next to the tail lights) and have been there for about 3 months now. No problems yet.

Next to the tail lights as in..... inside the trunk, or behind the tail light?

Or in other words, how would you access the resistor(s) today if you needed to take them out? Do you simply open the trunk and peel back the carpet? Or do you need to remove the tail light assembly?

Any special type of double sided tape? Surprised the heat hasn't cased the tape to fail.

I think there is airflow behind that taillight from inside the rear bumper.

Thanks!

I have mine double side taped above the tail light to the body of the car... if you reach up above the tail light and towards the back of the car there is a "shelf" so to speak... perfect place to stick it in there. Just to be safe, I also used a good chunk of high heat electric tape to hold it to the body. Make sure to wipe the area with IPA first though. And route the wires away from the resistor, 'cause it WILL get hot.

Yeah inside the trunk, to access it I just pull the carpet down and get them from there. No need to remove the taillights. I got a big roll of double-sided tape at Walmart for like 5 bucks. Just make sure it's 3M brand. I don't know about the rest.
