Ohio requires two plates. Weather you car comes stock with the front plate bracket or not has nothing to do with the requirement. It is required by all Ohio residents. If you do not have a front plate you can get a ticket for it. Oher states that require this are:
Alaska, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, & Wyoming

I'm glad Kentucky doesn't require one
But yea if you get pulled over you should tell the cop you didn't pay $15,000 for a car to go drill holes all in it and see what his reaction is

yea and you can not just put it behing your windshield either. The law states that it has to be on the front of your vehicle and windshield is considered the middle of the vehicle and you will still get a ticket

I wish they'd step up enforcement of this. There seems to be a double standard (at least here in Illinois) where drivers of expensive luxury SUVs never get pulled over (apparently) for not having their front plates.
The law is the law. Use tape if you don't want to drill holes in the plastic bumper cover.

Yep gotta have two plates in texas as well. There are some people that put them in the front windshield and most cops wont say anything as long as you have at least that... but its still illegal and have had several friends get busted for it..
Stupid Texas making us have a plate on the front and whatnot.

i am from Texas, and i don't have a front plate on my car. what i did to get out of it was i bought another front plate bracket from the dealership, and i keep the receipt in the glove box. i've been pulled over for no front plate once, and i showed the cop the receipt and told him i was waiting on it to come in, as my car didn't come with one, and it was taking a while because it had to come from Australia. haha. worked like a charm.
wrong. maybe officers in your county don't enforce it, but if you drove anywhere else there'd be no way to tel what county you were in - you'd get pulled over a written a ticket. it's a state law.

Hey i guess this would go along with the topic, but anyone use license plate covers?
I know i have smoked covers on both front and back and i have yet to get pulled over.
(knock on wood its only been a few weeks with them on)
but does anyone know if they're illegal?

it's kinda ghetto, but you can use zip-ties to hold the plate on the front, then you can put it on/take it off whenever you want just make sure there's some sort of protection or it'll rape your paint...

here in NY they are quick to getting you. I hit into my friends tow hitch not last summer but the summer before that and i took the front plate off at my garage to fix the bumper, i took the car home with a slight base coat and left the plate off, and as i left they pulled me over. i turned to the cop showed the plate was bent and said, if you give me a ticket you know i can just turn around and get a written document saying the car was just painted by my body shop.

I did this when they redesigned the plates and I was too lazy to put the new one on. I really don't think they're too bad about pulling you over for that here. I saw a car the other day with the old style plate on their car, and it was changed 2 years ago!

I've been pulled over once for no front license plate. I was let off with a warning. I have yet to put it on though because it is a stupid law.
Also, the trooper who pulled me over said if the state highway patrol inspects your car, you can get a window sticker that will allow you to not have a front plate.
