For all of those that talk bad about fender stripes, they came into style on a special Corvette. In 1963 there was a special production of a Grand Sport Corvette. Then again, in 1996 the Grand Sport made an appearance. Now once again for 2010 a Grand Sport possibly could make an appearance.

2010 Grand Sport

There was no special production Grand Sport Corvette in 1963, there were 5 race cars built, and almost immediately the program was stopped by GM brass, The cars were almost exclusively campaigned by private racers, and there was no "paint scheme" from the factory, and I have never seen any pictures of one of the original 5 GS Vettes with these hash marks on the fender, the 1996 GrandSport was to my knowledge the first Vette to officially where these hash marks on the left fender. The Ron Fellows Edition Z06 also had a variation of them and the 2010 Corvette Grand Sport does indeed have them available as an option.
I have never seen anyone do them "Chevys" way, and that is to stop them at the fender line before the wheel opening(even I wrapped them all the way down, it was easier than trying to be all accurate with duct tape, LOL) It is my opinion that Chevy just put the hash marks on as an afterthought just to get somed red on the car, since they were blue with white a white stripe(which is USA's international road racing colors, and why youll see lots of white/blue and blue/white vintage racing cars)
