So I got an estimate from a body shop to plug the holes in my trunk and repair the damaged paint from under my spoiler.

They want $774 because according to them, to make sure the paint matches, they also need to repaint the rear quarter panels.

Um... no thanks.

I probably wont even bother responding to their ridiculous estimate. If they had said like $5-600 I would try to talk them down to 4. But $774 is laughable.

Seriously. Unless your car faded, tell them the GM color code to use, and to stop dicking around.

if they repaint your rear quarters...then they won't match your car...so they'll have to do the doors. Which in turn on match the roof or fenders, so well, those have to get painted too. God damn it...now the hood don't match...hmmm...what a pickle your in.

Yea that **** is a joke...

there quote is high but I bet the quality is great, they wouldnt repaint the whole panel they would blend/fade, Sounds like they know what there doing, You should probably go to maco if you want cheap.

I'm sure the quality is great, their usual clientele brings in much nicer cars than I have. And to be fair the paint damage is fairly spicy, but it does not warrant that 1/4 the car be repainted.

No it doesn't, I agree its high, just shop around some more, but if they paint the rear panels too, its a good sign, just painting the the lid we look a little off, so little that if your not **** and dont point it out to others no one will know.

Yeah it wouldn't really matter if it wasn't a 100% match. My hood isn't. It just seems like overkill for what I'm trying to accomplish.

We just had a bumper put on my wife's car and they didn't have to paint the hood or fenders. They were able to tint it to match perfectly.

What color is it? Good paint is expensive.

My yellow tc is getting the front bumper, hood, front fenders, drivers door, drivers rear quarter, and rear bumper, painted in July because someone spun tires and flung rocks at my car.

They are going to have the car for almost 2 weeks and it's estimated at $2200.

ROFL! Tell them to just buff the quarters if they are so worried about it. If they can buff worth a damn it should clean up just fine. If I were you I'd try to find a wingless trunk at a junk yard and tell them to shove there 774 up their ass.

Hell, less than that. I found my wingless trunk from a 2.2 at a local junkyard. $200

I got quotes from 4 different reputable body shops to shave my trunk. The lowest was $300 and the HIGHEST was $450. Average was about $350. And I have LBM, not the easiest color to match.
