Michigan Tint Warning...

So for those in MI I was driving on I69 in Lapeer. MSP trooper gave me 1-5 over (clocked at 84) as it was my forst ticket, so got off lucky no points. However on the same ticket he issued a warning for my tint. 30% if I remember from the previous owner. So do I need to remove it? If I get pulled over again it probably means a fix it ticket and fine?

In michigan you can only have a 7" strip of 35% tint on the front windows im pretty sure. I have tennessee plates and ride around with 20% on the front up there though.

Yes it will be in the cop computer that you got the warning and then the next time you get stopped you will get a ticket and an order to remove it

Up here in BC you can tint your back windows as dark as you want but can not have any tint at all on your front windows

Yea I was aware of the law just wasn't sure of how the warning would work. Debating on ripping it off now. At least he didnt stop me for the straight pipe and get that too...

don't just peel it off. it looks like it comes off, but the glue stays. You can steam it off, but any tint shop should be able to remove it for very little cost. save yourself the headache.... ask me how I know haha

And if any cop ever does a rolling check on your tags it will come back you were once stopped and warned for tint and then there's a good chance you will be stopped to see if you still have the tint on

Cops tend to get a little nervous when then stop a car with tinted windows when they cant see who's in it

Yeah, 30 is just a bit too dark. 35% and you probably would've haven't gotten that.

Good luck with the class to get the ticket off your record. 4 hours of bullshit.

No points no class. Just a 105 fine. The ticket was actually only written for 1-5 over but it says he clocked me at 84. I actually did the class once for my dad...its awful lol

I'm so glad cops here in Colorado aren't that **** about tint.
Legal tint here is 35% yet I have 20% on the Cobalt and 15% on my daughter's Jetta and never hear a peep...

Which is why I roll them down. I have 20% on my fronts and 10 and 5 everywhere else. Florida plates. When I get stopped I drop the windows (especially when in tint **** states). Though, if they ask me to get out of the car I open the door, rool them up, and step out closing and locking the door behind me. I don't play the nosey and "in plain site" game.
