My first major Mod ... Front Grille ...
My idea has become a reality. I purchased a new front grille from the parts counter and started modding it until I could swap it out with the factory one on the car. Its still being worked on, going to buy some paint and have the shop that painted my Corvette paint it victory red. I have already removed the factory grille to see how hard it would be, it was easy. From the pictures you can see that it has no 'grille'. It will just be two openings to match the larger lower opening. I got a bad can of victory red spray paint, go figure, so the next step is to have the shop paint it.
I'm thinking the next step will be to change the bowtie color over to some silver color. That gold goes with nothing on the car.

I see what he did. The picture above is in fact a grill, the unpainted, black plastic piece that sits BEHIND the facia (bumper). He has cut out all of that black plastic so just the frame remains. The part covered by the plastic sheet as masking is the attachment plate that is visible when you open the hood of the car. Then he painted the rest red to try and match the facia color. Its not a bad idea actually.

And from my experiences living here all my life I should be able to go without incident.
I'm really dying to see what this looks like so I think I'm going to spray it with some black lacquer and try to put it in this morning. Its easy to take in and out so I'll have to have the shop paint it later.

I am interested in seeing what it looks like when you done.
Here we go, I'm gonna live with it black for a while, I think red might make that area of the car look different as it would extend the front fascia. Pictures don't do it justice...
(4 pictures are below, seems my image host is still sickly)

Now I need some headlights painted red like I've seen others painting them yellow and black inside.

It wasnt bad to do, just some careful cutting with a coping saw and dremel tool then alot of sanding.
I like how more of that nice aluminum comes through the top opening. I'm going to get some black paint next weekend and paint a little bit of the top portion where the weld is just to hide some stuff I dont want to see.
I've got some radiator fin pliers to keep it looking good under there.
