thank you...thats really easy....now ill see if i can make them blink together...like the corvette lights....when you hit the blinker both left lights go at the same time...or vice versa

what size resistor is that?

Yeah without the diodes, if you hit the brakes, your parking lights or other lights would turn on as well. Good way to confuse people on the road lol.

As for the resistor size, I don't really know what it is. I just bought a handful of random resistors at a surplus store and tested out each one until I found one that would produce a level of dimming that was as close as possible to the parking/brake effect.

Also, to make each side blink with the signals, you would just apply the top half of the diagram to both lights, without joining the lights together like I did. I also used the brake wire from the 3rd brake light in the trunk, cause it was closer and it was one less wire I had to run up the trunk lid. You would have to use the brake wires from the left and right outer lights to get the blinkers to work the way you want.

thats pretty bad ass.. im wondering though where did you pick up the diode, is there different types, and as for the oznium strips.. i thought they already came pre resistored?

Any electronics supply store sells diodes, I just had a pack that came with a whole bunch of them and used the ones that were rated for well above 12V. The strips are already designed for a vehicle's 12V electrical system, but I had to use another resistor so that I could keep them at a dimmer level for the parking lights and full brightness for the brakes.

The how-to write up already exists, I just changed how the lights are wired up.

These would be good if you could see the price.

quick question?, has anyone ever seen the syncrhos on mustangs, when they put on their turn signals it goes from the inside out? do you think we can do that to our tail lights?

Yeah... It's just a resistance difference. There is a heavier resistor on the outisde light 12v turn signal wire... so it takes a second longer for the resistor to load then the light. If that makes since.

As far as our lights, the problem i have heard is that they are controlled by signal through the pcm, there isn't an actuall turn signal wire it's the same power wire as the brake light, so when you hit the turn signal it sends the signal through the pcm to a relay that turns off the brake and on with the turn signal.

So I have heard...

so if i were to try that synchro thing with a resistor, where would the resistor go in here? as you had said too our tail lights go through a pcm. is this going to affect my install project?

That's called sequential lights, not synchros, and I doubt that would be an easy thing to pull off on a Cobalt, considering how many lights we have to work with compared to a Mustang.
