My new red valve cover

I love the way the flat red intakes look on a ferrari engine . I tried to capture some of the look with my valve cover and cover plate . I think it turned out awesome .

Had to machine out part the rib for the SS logo

Ready to be attached . I used qwik steel so I it wouldnt go anywhere , EVER . And I could trim around the edges with a blade before it dried totally , so the edges of the logo flow into the surface and it looks apart of the cover .

Finished !

I filled in the center of the SS logo with qwiksteel and then sanded it down so there was ridge outlining the SS , the surface is just flat now . Then layed heavy aluminum tape over the SS logo , trimmed ...then side to side sanded with a red 3m pad . SS logo looks like it molded in the cover and has had the surface machined

Hehe , yeah all the red I know wont vibe with alot of people . I love it though . Though it looks really nice , like on Bills car ....I jus dont get to into the polished look for myself at all . Next for me is the blower is getting painted flat black , and ribs will have the top surface machined .

Thanks for the compliments on the spark plug cover

A Cobalt Testa Rosa! What kind of paint gave that semi-gloss look? Very nice!

Actually no . I do like the crinkle black finish thats on some of the V8 valve covers , but the ecotec VC covers so much area I thought it might look a lil cheezy . I used 1200* Flat red duplicolor engine paint , its the only higher temp paint I could find that was flat . The 500* engine paint was gloss . I used the 500* primer though . To get the textured finish is easy , it just takes alot longer . You hold the can spray can about 3 feet from what your spraying , and mist on very light coats . You have to stop several times though to let what you misted on set up a bit , or the paint gets to wet and starts smoothing itself out as it dries . You also go thru alot of paint this way , since in essense your filling the air around you with paint and letting it fall onto what your painting . I went thru 2 cans doing just the valvecover

I think I might do mine wrinkle flat black, seems easy enough. I like basic shitizzle, looks good though. Black cam cover, and yellow for my spark plug cover.

That looks freaking awesome man. Nice work for sure! I love the SS badge being on the spark plug cover too. I wish I had access to a milling machine to do that. Sweet deal. I just might do this myself now, but I'm going with wrinkle black and leaving the spark plug cover silver with a special accent for a mod that is coming soon enough.

Are you matching you're Ingalls TD as well? I see it's missing for some reason.

The wrinkle black will look really good . I went back and fourth on red and black . I am painting the blower black though ...maybe today .

As for the ingalls , I get tired of the tin'e noise it makes . Mine is and has been installed right , but transfers alot of noise into the interior . So , I typically take it out if Im not at the track or out cruising . I honestly would rather have the vibes of poly mounts . Im gonna expirament with some different o-rings and see if I can get to make no noise .

Thanks guys again for the comments .

You could do this. Paint your blower black, then use some like brush paint. I am sure brake caliper paint will work. Go with some red paint on the fins, or whatever they are called.

I had planned on machining the tops of the fins so their just natural aluminum . I possibly may do it flat gunmetal too to match the strut tower . Thinkin on that one .

Like just the silver on the stock valve cover? That would look good too. If you painted the stock blower wouldn't that create more heat. We all know that we create a hella lot of heat.
