My new tail lights!!
I'm waiting for this to get approved. Let me know if it helps any.

Here's the picture. Basically you get your inner tail lights apart, then put some flexible LEDs in them. I used these: http://www.oznium.com/led-flex-strips. I bought two 19" red strips and then just cut them to size. After I had them inside the inner lights, I connected some extra wire (speaker wire is fine) to make the wire longer. As you can see from the picture, the brown wire connects to one of the prongs on the resistor, and a diode connects to the other prong. The green/yellow wire (depending on which side of the car you're on) will connect to the other diode. You then twist the tops of the diodes together (represented by the line connecting the two in the picture). After you have the diodes connected to each other, you then connect that to the positive wire from the LEDs. The negative wire from the LEDs can just be wrapped around a bolt so it's grounded, you DON'T have to cut the black wire at all. For each light, you will need one flexible LED strip, one 20k ohm resistor, and two 1N4001 diodes (you can get the diodes from Radio Shack). The resistors are adjustable and I ordered mine from digikey.com. Feel free to PM if you have an questions. This was an awesome mod. and very easy. All for under $50!
It actually just happened because LEDs light up quicker than a gas filled bulb. If I had LEDs in the outer tails, they would come on at the same time. I'm not sure if I like them coming on at different times or not lol.

Do you have pics of the wiring done from the inside of the car
Ahhhh ok. I have LEDs in the outer talks so I should be good to go then!

I could take some pictures if you want. I'm not sure how much you would get from them because everything is covered with electrical tape. I soldered the wires together, and then wrapped tape around it...basically, the only thing that's visible is the resistor haha.

I'm not too sure on that one...PM yellowltcoupe22 for a detailed answer. He's the one who helped me out. I believe that the green or yellow wire are positive, brown is ground, and black is negative maybe? LOL...I know I'm the one who did this, and I can't even explain. Just pretend that the black wire isn't even there and only cut the brown and yellow/green. Then, the negative wire from the LEDs can be wrapped around a bolt so that it's grounded.
Pretty sweet. I'd LOVE to do this, except I just want each side to "blink" at the same time not "staggered" like yours are. Subscribed for tomorrow when I'm awake enough to comprehend this.
PS - PLEASE make a detailed how-to for this. And if you can make it kinda dumbed-down for those of us who arent exactly the best with wiring, that'd be awesome

I think if I get LEDs for the outer tail lights, it will be these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-07...spagenameZWDVW
They look really close to stock, which is what I want.

Hey man, I was just as worried...I didn't know what the heck I was doing. I would bake them and nothing would happen. Eventually I just did it at 200* for about 6 minutes, take them out, and take a little bit of the sealant off, then put them back in. The lenses are fine...they won't melt...you just have to trust it lol. There is a member on here who actually drilled a seperate hole for each LED so that he didn't have to take them apart.

I made one yesterday that is exactly what I have posted in here a few posts back...if that's not detailed enough let me know. I won't be able to get pictures because everything is soldered and taped together, but I can definitely wire a step by step. It really is super easy! To show you how easy, I had no clue what a resistor or diode was before this...I didn't even know they existed lol.
Now that i think about it i don't really want the LED's because i want to get new tail lights later anyways, i just want the cool scrolling effect, do you think you still have to bake them to get that wiring done? Any input would be awesome.
If you want lights inside the lenses...you have to get the lights apart. You don't necessarily have to bake them, I read a member on here used a drill bit. He put the drill bit into the sealant and then spun the light around the drill bit and it came off. You can buy aftermarket lights for your trunk, but they're super expensive (some over $300), and mine look just as good. I didn't wire it in a "special" way to get them to scroll like they do, it's just because a gas bulb takes longer to light up than an LED...all you're seeing is the LED light up a split second faster than the gas filled outer tail light bulb.
ok for who ever asked what the brown wire was its the power wire for the park lights. green or yellow is for brake/turn signal and black is ground. the resistors keep power from goin back throu another wire when to power wires come together. the resistor is to adjust the brightness of the leds for the park lights.
o and like he said if you have any questions bout it you can pm me and i'll help walk you throu it. its very simple after you have what you need and actually look at what you'll be doin.

Oh...umm....not sure I can get pictures because like I said..it's all done already. I didn't think to bring my camera down when I was doing it. I can write a very detailed how to though that should help. You still interested?
LOL...isn't that the truth. I didn't even know the resistor had 3 prongs on it haha.

the only way you can get this is to pull apart a stock set. buy all the stuff and send it to me and i'll take the time to do it for you with a small fee of coarse
o and get an extra set of inners to do it with that way you wouldnt have any down time

lol i could do it.. i actually thought bout buyin a bunch of inners and the stuff to do all this with and sellin them on here but then i'd end up banned cuz im not a vendor. it would actually cost a pretty penny to sorta mass produce these. you figure in 40 for the two led strips around 20 for the diodes and resistors and then roughly 40 for the inner tails and some wire.. it wouldnt be cheap.
ooorrrr. i could get a couple of sets of the inners and do a core deposit kinda thing.. that would cut prices down a lil..
