New Wheels For the Cobalt SS availible thru GM!
Hi all,
Haven't posted in a long cause I've been so busy with school and what not but anyways...
I got off the phone with my brother this morning (10/5/05.... Hey today is my car's 5 month birthday!) and he told me that his dealer just got in a cataloge and in it are some polished 18 inch wheels that you can get for the Cobalt. I think they are meant for the Cobalt SS but I'm not sure. He's going to bring home the cataloge tonight so I can see what they look like. If the picture is good and in color I'll scan it and then hopefully Jonel can host it on here for me.

Does GM seriously think many orders will be placed for wheels priced like that? Ugh, this is why they are down in the dumps with aftermarket and gaining their market share. They strive to make too much profit.

Anyone notice the site lists "The 18" Accessory wheel is applicable on Cobalt 17" Coupe SS w/o turbocharger or 18" Coupe SS w/ Turbocharger models only. The approved tire for the Chevrolet Cobalt 18" GM Accessory wheel application is Pirelli P215/45R18 with TPC code 1255. Pirelli part # 19110281."
Turbocharger?

I'm waiting for Kazara to make some light wieght 5 spokes in black w/ polished lips. They'll be
about $200 a corner I'd guess.

Maybe if they wernt chrome, then they would look pretty good. Chrome looks good on darker colors like that black SS but on red like my car I think they would look stupid.

You pay this price because they are intended for one vehicle , so thats a limited run.
As far as quality/performance goes - the only way aftermarket are better is (keep in mind these
are aluminum) if they are made from 6061-T6 then heat treated or if they are forged, period.
I don't know the process used in manufacturing these factory parts counter wheels but they
are usually cast.
