Nightshade complete

Well i just nightshaded my tail lights and i must say that im pretty happy with the results... heres some pics

Before:

During:

applying clear coat

Everything needed and the completed product:

VHT Nightshade
Krylon (doesnt have to be but i used it) crystal clear
Fiberless rag (i used the absorber
Fine grade sandpaper (i used the 3M 350 grit sandsponge)
and a dumb room mate willing to hold and spray

And after sanding the tail lights, applying 4 coats of nightshade, then 5 coats of clear coat, sanding imperfections, and reapplying 3 more coats of clear coat, this was my final result:

damn its sexy

Night time

How is backing up with those guys at night? I had 20% tint all they way around and lights about that dark and couldnt see a thing out the back window at night. I just used the side mirrors with the windows down if it was dark so it didnt bother me too much. I was pulled over a few times with them tinted only one cop hassled me and its because he couldnt get me on anything else. He gave me a fix it ticket and went to the police station with them still tinted and got it dropped.

Try and have some night shots so people who want to do them can tell when they look like at night

I did this same thing this past weekend. But when i wet sanded mine they turned white and didn't look to good. So i just lightly sprayed them again. This sanding was after the clearcoat. Any ideas on what i done wrong and how i can make them look like glass like yours?

well after i clear coated, i sanded like you said. 350grit very lightly across everything. after that they looked really foggy, but it didnt go through to the shade. i just re-applied 3 even clear coats over the clouded look and it came out as seen. not sure what you did wrong. what grit did you use and how hard did you press?

Mine got foggy too. I sanded lightly with 2000 grit to take the imperfections out. But i didn't use as many coats of clear like you did. Think i should go back and resand and then only use a few coats of clear?

hmmm have any pics of how they look right now? if you didnt go thru to the nightshade, then just sand evenly and gently till its smooth. its ok if it looks foggy. then just slap on about 3 coats of clearcoat

Ok, so lightly sand it again til it fogs up, then hit it with 3-4 coats of clear and it will be fine. The fog will go away? Do i need to sand it anymore after that?

Nice, they look good! Love how they shine...most of them I see are dull as hell!

I can't wait to do mine, course I'm going to leave the reverse lights clear...
