Any way i can keep the lights ON 100% of the time on my Instrument gauge WITHOUT covering up the sensor?

Im on the last step of my cluster experiment which i will post pics and a HOW-TO (if people want) to see what im doing.

using a resistor on a specific wire that tells the cluster to turn off or on

 

turn your fog lights on, it illuminates your cluster lights

Yes sir. Just turn your headlights all the way on and all the interior lights will be on too. You can verify this by using the dimmer switch after turning them on. Dude, you wanna build something nuclear? Between you and I we have got the engineering on lock down.

im looking to TINT the cluster cover with 20% tint... and i have bright enough LEDS to shine BRIGHTLY through.... however i dont want to fiddle with these damn fog light stuff.

It also looks hyperwhite (not blue tint) and was all done for under 10 bucks.

actually im going to be installing my intake manifold coolant chiller within the next month. Very cheap method of doing it and i posted a blurb about it but no1 answered, so im using it. Also it doesnt cost more than 100.00 to drop IAT2s 30+ degrees... guestimating.... i will have an HPTuners log (before and after)when i do show it.

which wire signals the cluster to turn on... i really dont want to break out my voltmeter

 

my headligths turn on when i turn on my windshield wipers, but if it's too bright out, the gauge lights don't come on. same when i turn on the fogs. my instruments are completely independent of anything but the sensor.

 

ls1 your dash will light up when you turn your fogs on just during the days its hard to tell.

 

obviously ill have to do this the hard way

 

There is a little known GM reflash for keeping the cluster backlights on all the time.

It was created due to some complaints about not being easy to read, they reflash the BCM and it keeps the lights on the cluster on always, without using any other dumb trick or having to do custom wiring.

i checked hptuners on several tabs and couldnt find it, so im assuming it is a GM specific reflash

 

No HPT. You need access to GM Dealerworld and the Tech 2 flash stuff, you have to flash the BCM, not the PCM, so its not something aftermarket.

On a side-note, does anyone know a way to remove the chrome strip without damaging the needle on the speedo, rpm and fuel gauge?
