Once you go Black.....

I've had a rattle in my roof for a few months now, and im taking a road trip to FL for Thanksgiving. i wanted to fix it so i dug into it yesterday. Droppe the headliner and could feel a loose bracket on the top side of the sunroof assy. so i had to drop that

^ see the black bar, with the rubber piece just below the galss? there is a T20 torx on each side, one had loosened up and was causing the rattle.

well wouldnt you know thats the piece that retains the fabric slide? so i started painting stuff black. its pretty damn close

yes i know the pillar got scratched, i did that remounting the gauge. i will fix it some night this week

Overall im happy with it, yes i haven't done the visors yet, that will be done soon. takes a lot of time and prep. finished it at 2:30 this morning.

Yes i did, Dupli-color Vinyl paint. Autozone/Adavaced i think it was like $6 a can. i used some plastic cleaner and vinyl prep as well. prob spent about $50.

headliner and the pillars were done with the same paint.

Is that screw accessible without removing the whole sunroof assembly?

Sounds like you're talking about the same thing, just three posts apart.

looks good. i did the painted a pillar c pillar thing with real paint and cant say ill ever do it again. did 100% correct prep, adhesion promotor and plastic primer(from standox) and from rubbing on the dash and what not it failed eventually(although you could never see it because that part was covered by the dash). c pillars lasted for ever.

as for the headliner spray ill never do it again. my personal car never saw it but my buddies car i did it for since he wanted it done cheaply and it doesnt last(atleast where your arm rests on the door panels it didnt) and it sure doesnt feel like material anymroe. also its really easy to mark up so be care ful.

looks good otherwise

there isnt enough clearence to get anything i had between the roof and the bolt so i had to drop it. thinking back you might be a ble to just take out a few of the mounting bolts toward the back and tip it down enough.

yes i marked the headliner up putting it in. paint is there but has a funny line in the black. i didn't door the door panels, they match my TC seats. ill see how it holds up, if it starts to go south ill go buy some black suede.

did you use the same vinyl fabric paint for the rubber trim piece thing around the sunroof? i was afraid to in case it might crack and stuff because its a flexible piece.

Im getting ready to do this very soon. Just wonder what I should use for the carpet, same vinyl spray?

And my main thing is the door panels, Ive prepped/sanded/sprayed them on another car and the touch surfaces always peel. I was thinking of using plastidip but im not sure.
