one light brighter then other....

well guys i've had this problem for a while now, but today since im gunna be installing my new black headlight housings i figured i would find out if there was a way to fix it. i have a set of luminics ultra white lights, and it appears to me that my right headlight is brighter then my left one. at first i thought it was in my head but a few of my friends said they can kinda tell too. its nothing that is really bad, but if u sit there and analyze it u can tell, and im a pretty **** guy when it comes to my car, so if there is a way i can fix it, please let me know!!!

Both my Cobalt, and my friend's (NamedGoBalt) Cobalt experience this issue too. We think one headlight is angled differently than the other.

This is a normal thing most most every car does... Your right light is a bit brighter to light up the right hand side to give you more warning of what's ahead.

Very useful for when living in the middle of nowhere. Granted then you just drive with the brights on all the time, but if you meet a car you still get a little help when you have to dim them.

It's not brighter its aimed differnet to give you better side visibility and not to blind other drivers comming toward you. If you park in front of a wall or garage door with your lights on ( about 6ft away or so) one light beam should be slightly lower than the other. You will find this in most new cars since no one really uses diffuser lenses much any more. most headlights are clear, or projector style.

BINGO!!

Someone hit it. The idea is not necessarily that the right one is aimed higher to project, but that the left one is aimed slightly lower to protect. Oncoming drivers that is. It lowers to help keep your headlights out of the eyes of oncoming traffic. It's normal cougar.... you can adjust them to even them out, but you can also bring them to the dealer and they will aim them to spec but that will leave them at different angles

thanx guys, i handed up rep to some of u.

but now onto my next problem. yesterday i installed my new black headlight housings, i took out the normal lights that came with them and put my luminics lights in them. but when it was dark out and i was driving to my gf's house it seemed like my lights were aimed to low, and werent projected outward enough.

how do i re-aim the lights to project out further????

I'm not shure what brand of light you got but there should be a torx screw on the back of the lamp housing , this is the adjusting screw turn this screw tlii the desired angle ia achieved. If you take some pix I may be able to help better.

yea the headlight housing i bought has a phillips screw there for the adjusting. i shoulda searched in the site and looked in the manual of the car before i asked the aiming question. it says how to do it in the manual of the car. so tonight when it gets dark out im gunna go out on a dark road with a screwdriver and work on re-aiming them.

thanx for the help newayz silvrlt. us 2.2 guys gotta stick together haha

you bought halos so its completely different from what the manual says as far as which to turn and what direction does what. the aiming measurements are the same, but if you got the projos then follow that vid and it will be perfect.

ah ok. then its probably simialar to stock. most people get the halos, but that vid is still a good guide to aiming eitherway.

Where'd you buy black headlight housings? I want black headlight housings, but I don't wanna have to have them off for a while to have someone paint them. I don't trust myself if I were to do it myself. I'd love to just buy black headlight housings and switch them out with the stock ones.

um when i paint them i would be lookin to trade. ur set of stock ones for my painted ones plus maybe 50 bux or so.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-06...em300156192183
thats the ebay link.

and if u dont like that amber piece that is in the headligth (the day time running light part) i could slide that out when i paint them and u could just use an orange bulb to stay legal.

buy some HID's and aim them correctly. luminics or nokyas WILL burn your harness. especially if u live where moisture is an issue.... just buy HID"s sacrifice the highbeams and love the look. cobalts look AMAZING with 8000k mchulloch HID kit. ihad em. for over a year no issues. and i say they will and might have a chance of burning the harness cuz they dont use stock wattage. they use either 100w or 55., 55 may be stock but the OHm's r whats off the resistance is too high. eh im a BIG hid enthusiast... its worth thr 250-360$$$ ull spend. trust me. looks good on road and car and in housing and will last twice as long.
