Orange Eye Lids
Anyone with an orange cobalt have eye lids done? I've only seen red and black. I ask because I am worried about how it will look considering the orange's have the metalic coating. I'm afraid it will stick out too much and won't match. I would like to mask the design off and paint them, but if vinyl is an option too.
So anyone with orange eye lids, post them up.
EDIT: Also, is it possible to just buy the orange paint from GM with the metalic in it already?

I am actually thinking about doing the same thing. Vinyl really isnt an option if you want an exact color match to the car color. The only option you would have is to paint it. You could goto a local body shop and have them get the color code and mix the paint and paint it for you or goto your local dealership and pick up a 5 oz car for around $10

Don't do it!!! It'll take away from your visibility at night and cause you to either rear-end a Cavalier or slide off the road into a tree.
j/k Wes. On a serious note, the GM paint from the dealer comes in metallic. That's what I used for my interior trim and engine plastic. But like you've seen on mine, it doesn't match perfectly. So it might stick out.
My suggestion: put white vinyl on. Then mask off the headlight and paint only the vinyl. I'm not sure about the stickiness of the vinyl, but I'm sure you could find a chemical that promotes adhesion to a vinyl surface. If nothing else, this could be a temporary test to see if the paint matches. Then if it doesn't, you can simply take the vinyl off. If it does match, you can take it off and lay down a base coat of white on the headlight lens itself, then paint it with the metallic paint. Just an idea.

Thats actually not a bad idea Dan. I figure my car is plenty fast enough and I want to start going something to the exterior now. I was playing around in Photoshop and I know what type a eye lid I want. Then maybe a day that Dave has off we can finally do my grille.

Wes, if you're up for it, I can help you do the grill. I've seen Dave do it, and I have a dremel. If you get the mesh, some primer, and paint, we can do it. I have leftover adhesive. That is, unless you want to wait and have him do it with his new paperclip technique.

I guess we do that then Dan. Still need to pick a color for it though.
About the eye lids, driving to NC just for eye lids seems kinda overkill.

Wes, Dave and I have discussed this same problem on my car, and he thinks the Arrival Blue would have 2 problems, that I would guess the orange would have as well:
Not matching exactly, and being transparent with the lights on. We also discussed the paint-on-vinyl idea, and I think it's the way to go. Like Dan said, if it doesn't match you just peel off the vinyl. And I think it would cut-down, if not eliminate, the transparency problem.
I was going to be the guinea pig for this, but you can go ahead if you'd like...
