Question -----PaInTeD DaSh-----

Ok, before i even say anything i am going to say i have searched around and could not find anything on this. I have been interested in painting all the silver pieces in my car. I want to them all black and i dont want it to be glossy either. i basicly want it to look like the dash. Does anyone know or heard about doing this? Thank you for any input on this. and i know 90% of the people who look at this are not going to reply but please if you have any idea or heard about doing this please let me know. Thank you!

o its cool. i bought them off ebay for like $170. Really good deal. And some of my friends have bought the same ones $200+ and have had so many problems with them, like the leds or burnt out lights. lol but i have never had any problems. and shipping was so fast.

Tons of people have painted their trim. You must not know how to search properly. As far as it not being glossy, good luck with that...Its called clearcoat and its what protects the paint/finish. Without it and you will be painting it every few months. I have done mine and did a nice write up on it.

it can be done without too many problems.. its all in the prep work. take the time and get it everything yet need at hand.... paint in a clean room. no dust.. i dont recomend spray paint, just because spray paint sucks, and it never really finishes the way it should..

yea, i didnt think there would be a way. I dont have a paint room either. But i would do the red but it just looks tacky with the silver heater controls. If i could get my hands on one of the black ones. and also i want to paint my pillars black to and change my headliner.

I completely disagree...I used the GM 5oz touch up paint and it comes out FABOULUS! If you get the cheap ass walmart ****, then it probably won't look good at all...prep work is right though...You need to sand down the trim to make it smooth as silk, then use a good primer.

the hardest thing is the sanding...to make it nice and smooth, you need to wet sand it with some fine grit, like 500 or higher. That takes the most time...go slow and don't force the sandpaper. Use plenty of water, that will keep it smooth. Then, dry it and cover with primer. Now, painting just remember, numerous light coats. Don't spray it on heavy or it will run.

Here's mine https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/appearance-48/sunburst-metallic-orange-metallic-black-interior-48100/

You to get a special type of sand paper, called wetsand...its meant to be used with water. Normal sandpaper won't hold up.

If you want black, the best that I've found is Krylon Semi-Flat Black, It has a nice, non-glossy almost powder-coated look without being flat and grainy.
