Painted Headlights - Gauging Intrest

Well plan on opening a business for this community for painting headlights. No need to send me your headlights before. i can get some then paint them and ship them to you. You could also send me your stock headlights after to reduce the price. How much would you guys pay for someone to paint a set of headlights for you? just getting some info on people intrested here :P.

I'd charge $200.00 for them painted and a core trade. Then if they didnt wanna trade theirs in and just wanted a set painted, I'd charge $300.00. Are you planning on having some kind of guarantee they are sealed correctly?

I think most people on this site are just going to do it themselves. Easy to do and only costs about 10 dollars. My .02.

I also think another member tried to start a business of painting headlamps but it didn't work.

I'd be interested... but I think $200 is a bit much... especially with a headlight trade for the stock ones after.... Maybe $100 max.... and they'd have to be really really nice...

I also think $200 is way too much. Even at $100 a pair that is asking a lot. I dont know that I would pay someone else $50 bucks to do it, to me it is worth the money to go through the hassle of doing it myself.

for 200-300 we are all gonna get projectors but if you charged a reasonable price like maybe 45% profit then it may work, the challenge will be getting the stock headlights to begin with, so that could drive the core price up but if they send in thei r own headlights give them the other headlights for free minus the shipping and all that

$200 is pretty good if you think about how long it takes to heat them, open, remove the glue, mask, sand if necessary, paint, then re-seal. probably about 3 hrs total. if you think about the national labor average being about $75 an hour not including materials, $200 becomes a fair price.

plus, in order for this to be profitable, he'd have to look at his initial costs of buying two headlights and the materials, vs. how much he actually makes on each set he does. that being said, if he invests $200 initially to get set up, and is only making $20 profit on each, he'd need 10 orders to just break even. or even worse, at $10 profit, he'd need 20 orders to break even.

just my $0.02

I got my windows tinted for a little over $100... paid around $100 for my strut bar... and like $150 for my intake... I expect something a bit more serious than headlights for $200... now I know that the work is hard... and that custom work is expensive... but I might as well just save that $200 and wait for some full replacement headlights to come out.

By the way... you can get OEM headlights off of e-bay for like $50 a piece now...

well it may just end up being more of a pain then cuz at those prices people would be able to buy projectors when they start to become more widely available

I'd only pay $200-$300 if you were able to make my headlights interior outta real Carbon Fiber. I've see a few cars with this and I think its looks pretty sweet.

Something like these

Carbon Fiber Projector headlights

...agree...200 is a fair price when u factor in the supplies, time, unsealing, sealing (garenteed)

Thats what guaranteed means. I think 200 is steep, I understand the process can be a pain in the ass, but like others have said. You can buy after market ones for damn near the same price and look 10x better. If I was into the look, I'd probably pay around 100.
I don't see it costing more than 10/20 bucks to do each set.

200 may be a bit much, although like black housing headlights from like vendors and ebay go for like 130-200. Would they be available in just black or any color we want?

200-300 is probably fair but most people will probably just do it themselves, **** it up then cry and buy ebay headlights

lol eh? $200? I just did this myself, granted they look AMAZING I wouldn't EVER have paid $200 for it, hell Ebay projectors blacked out are like $200.

It really wasnt that much work, bake, Peel, Paint, bake Smush them together and sulicone the **** out of them lol..

I dont really see how you could **** this up thats not fixable, for me the hardest part is ensuring a solid seal afte, but even then if they fog up, o well dry it up and re silicone, unless ur a complete Paint Nub and have runs everywhere
