Painting interior
Painting interior
Im going to paint my interior pieces soon...but the big question. WHITE or BLUE?? I have a white car so i think it will go, but im gonna have blue accents [lights, ect]. I have black/silver right now so the top/bottom will be black....
gotcha, when i think interior, i think ***** to the wall, everything. doors, panels, pillars, glove box, etc. i guess i'm eccentric when it comes to interior. lol. but it's gonna look damn good this summer when i finish.
honestly, its not that expensive. its time consuming if u do it the way i am. i'm sanding everything down smooth b4 painting. sooo, lol. takes a lil while. but go to walmart, but krylon. it's something like 2.75 a can. its good paint, doesn't drip, dries quick and looks sharp. when i go for supplies i spend no more than about 40 bucks and that lasts me a LONG time. n i buy sandpaper (like 4-6 packs), primer, white, blue, and clear coat. i normally buy 4 of each can, n some paper, and i'm good for lol, maybe 2 doors, or maybe a dashboard. lol.
i plan on going to either walmart or autozone..whoever has the white im looking for lol. buy a few cans since im only doing trim....we have lots of sandpaper here and im gonna need some primer for it too. but its gonna be a few day project. i plan on driving without the trim for a few days anyhow while i work on it. lol
hmmm i'll have to look in the paint section and see if they have white metallic here....i live on an island so we dont have everything lol
oh hell no

1) use some 400-600 grit, and scuff it up lightly. (do u have wet sandpaper? thats what u REALLY want.
2) after u scuff it up, wash it with soap n water, and dry it good.
3) lightly spray primer, so its almost like sticky
4) in a couple mins later spray a little thicker n wait the full time
5) after its dried once more n ur good, wet sand it with 400 grit lightly and wash it again
6) spray 1 more full layer of primer
7) spray your color in the same way u did the primer, make it a light sticky coat
8) have a beer
9) spray a little more color and let it dry
10) wet sand it lightly, wash, and spray 2 full coats on
11) now west sand it once more and wash it
12) clear coat the **** outta it. thick but not too thick. do like 4-6 coats of clear coat.
also, when every time ur done spraying, tip the can upside down and spray it away from you until just aerosol (the clear gas) comes out. thats how u clean the spray tips to avoid overspray and spiderwebbing n other imperfections.

btw, it shud only take like 1-1.5 hours tops at the most. i wrapped all of my pieces with vinyl in about 65 mins. lol. n thats a PITA compared to sanding n painting. even if u take ur time, ur not gonna prolong 4 trim pieces into 3 days.
i didnt think it was gonna take too long but if im on mom duty it might take a little bit. i might end up doing one piece at a time if im constantly on mom duty. lol. im sure my dad has wet sandpaper...somewhere. prolly in the storage..aka garage. lol
