From my understanding the TVS is designed to be at peak efficiency as far as porting/polishing the inlet/outlet. I would not let them touch it for fact that HARROP has stated that porting it will decrease it's efficiency. Polishing the casing shouldn't be a problem, but if you contact HARROP they should be able to set you up with a polished unit directly from them. You may have to buy it through OTTP or JBP but get it done by HARROP, IMO

Polishing the outside is different than porting it, guys. Polishing the outside will have no affect on it at all. My suggestion is just contact Harrop and let them do it the right way, though.

ya, they arn't porting it, just polishing the outside, they also said they would polish the intake of the supercharger, im guessing that is just the part between the throttle body and blades, harrop sais its perfect the way it is, so not sure if there is a benifit to this or not! no i just want to c what a polished harrop looks like!!!

I would rather have the manufacturer of the TVS do the polishing of the case than JBP anyday. My main concern was for JBP to NOT TOUCH THE INSIDE AT ALL, EVEN TO POLISH TEH INLET.

The inlet is sort of rough from the casting. I thought about smoothing it out for a split second and then said f it, it going on my car as is.

Thats kinda what im thinking! maybe i'll have harrop do the polishing later after i get all my toys! you know, when i have money to spend and im out of performance mods to buy i will start doing some polishing. however i am having JBP port and polish my intake while i have it out for the duel pass endplate!

agreed. a polished blower in an otherwise average looking engine bay just looks so beautiful and totally catches your eye

There is a reason it is a $2,000 part. Don't modify it, unless you're just doing the outer case, then I'm interested.

thats what hes talking...

god this forum is so stupid at times it makes baby jesus cry.

Porting: The process of removing metal to increase the volume of airflow that is possible.
Polishing: The process of removing minor surface ebrasions as to allow for smoother air flow.

Polishing is always a good thing, there is no downside to polishing!

You seem to be part of that generalization.... He also mentioned the s/c intake (or if you prefer to call it, the inlet)

So if HARROP states to not touch the blower for porting/polishing the inlet/outlet, why the **** would you do it. I'm trying to stop him from damaging a $2000 item. And before you second guess me, I was a tester for the HARROP and had this discussion with them

The outside of the case is most likely fine to polish. If you contact OTTP and have them order you a polished unit directly from HARROP, you will have no issues at all.

word

especially when people come in a thread making generalizations and contradicting a company who put tons of money into R&D for a high-dollar product, to make it perfect as it is...

bottom line, don't touch it

This is the response i got from HARROP (USA):

Although a rare request this maybe something we can provide directly from Harrop. I will gladly inquire further if you like. Do you want me to inquire with my Australian colleagues on doing it from the factory? Otherwise, no none of my U.S. dealers have a polished unit in stock.

So to me it doesn't look too good, but i am going to have him ask his "Austrailian Colleages" for more info!

If you want the outer casing polished, I'd just order one and get in contact with BlilBT..

Just my opinion, if you can get a polished unit from the factory, then by all means do so.

We will beat anyones price on the tvs. The only reason the price isn't lower is because of map.
