pqinting the plastic grill inserts
pqinting the plastic grill inserts
I'm going cheap here, becuase I cant afford anything better but......... what would be the best method to painting the black plastic grill iserts to a chrome......... what kind of prep work, what kind of paint, etc. would be best..... the only palstic/vinyl I ahve ever painted was interior, not on the leading edge of a vehicle
let me know what chrome finish you do to the car and if the chrome paint looks good. im going to paint my rims chrome and black this weekend. i just plan on getting the chrome paint from wal mart.
that chrome paint is no good. But if you do decide to do it get a grey 3m scotch bright pad and scuff the plastic degreese it wish paint degreeser or windex if thats all you have, mask it. Get some adheason promoter and spray that and let dry then paint it. You local parts store should have adheason promotor
i say paint it gloss black....
sand it...
prime it...
paint it...
clearcoat it...
buff it with some wax...
it would look sick...even more nasty if you have/get black rims...
or mabye paint your rims black also...
there is a really good how to: on that...search it...

Though instead of sanding it, I would say scuff it with a scratch pad. When painting it, use lots of light coats, slowly building up.
If your going for a bright silver or metallic, use a white base coat.
And there are nice looking metallic paints, but not in spray cans. I use them all the time painting. Of course, I wouldn't want to hand paint the grills, though using a sprayer if your any good would let you do it a lot faster.
Your clear and addatives (inks, prisms, flakes) make a big difference in the final look.
