Project "Black Sapphire" Retro's
First, thanks to BuyHIDs.com (Mkulrey13 and kidcrash) for the group buy on the retro kits. VERY easy install and worked wonderfully. Their instructions were simple and easy to follow if read.
I hate doing the trend and looking like every one else. I have never had true black housing headlights. My first lights ever (in 2005) were body matched to my yellow ss/sc (Wonder who has her now.. I miss her. Hence getting the red ss/sc two months after trading the yellow one in) My first modded lights on the red ss/sc were metallic black painted w/ chrome accents left from the OEM housing. Second set where tinted chrome using Niteshades. So, naturally, I had to do something different.
Black Chrome using Duplicolor's "Shadow - Chrome Blackout Coating". Came out beautifully. Of course, a cell camera can not fully pick up on the beauty of them. They are black, but when seen up-close you can tell they are chrome. Almost shifts from angle of perception. LOVE them. 6k bi-Xenon HIDs, white halo wired to DRL's (Mkulrey, no worries, I'm an 05 so no worry of DRL fuse)

Note, that is an E85 pump fueling my tank lol

It's very very easy. FYI, if you get any of the OEM grey sealant on the housing, when it is still warm and tacky use rubbing alcohol on a cloth/paper towel and it'll wipe off w/ elbow grease

Not at all. Can you turn a wing nut, turn a screw/bolt, and plug in connections as well as follow a few easy steps? If so, you're golden. I HATE wiring and I still did just fine

Black is ground. I used the same ground as the HID ground. If you want the halo on when the car is on, tap the red wire into the brown wire on the OEM harness.
ohhhhhhh ok, thanks for clarifying that i was hella freaking out, and are those red clips that were included used for splicing?

It does. But nothing I can do with it. Previous owner did not take care of it well and it warped from being propped up for so long in a hot garage

This weekend? I'll be out possibly thursday but def fri. I will not be able to go to a dyno tho unless you are off work and we meet early in the day
looks badass man. I should be out of that cursed orange cobalt by the end of this week and hopefully into a black 07 ss/sc early next week. Hopefully sooner then i can get my retrofits together. I may have to steal your idea i think this would look great on the black balt i'm looking at.

Do it, I'm not gonna whine if someone likes my idea and uses it lol. I actually found out that Hook already did this to a set of lights. I'm not the first haha
