Question about carbon fiber hood
Question about carbon fiber hood
I have a question about the carbon fiber hoods like the one in this picture of Juststickit124's Cobalt

Would those vent slots get water in under the hood, and if so will it cause in water damage?

Im getting a new CF hood so for the past few days I searched the hell out of the site and there are a **** TON of people saying they have problems with water. I guess its a great hood for keeping the engine cool but There are a lot of stories about water under sparkplug boots and stuff like that. I really like some of the vented hoods but im really leaning towards an OEM style lid after everything I have read.

you could have just PM'd me LOL.....very very little water gets in under the vents, just some drops on the manifold, nothing big at all, no water damage what so ever. During the summer I take the vent cover off to help extract the heat even more. They come out with some alan screws, very easy.
if you can see my engine bay in the sig....no damage at all. I was worried about this when I washed the car for the first time with the hood. All I did was cover the engine with a big towel...you can do that as well, perfectly fine.

hey juststickit i got the same hood as yours, came in on monday and i was thinking the same thing with the water, i sprayed some water over the hood and then pop it open and there were a few drops here and there. I was a little worried cus when i opened the hood all the water went backwards and all over the manifold but then i realized why, so i guess what im experiencing is ok then?
