Question...tjin
I ordered my coil overs and hate how the high rise looks on the ss when dropped. Wingless looks amazing. I love the tjin trunk. I wanted opinions on the carbon fiber tjin trunk before I spent the money. Has anyone had fitment issues etc? Thanks for any advice.
fitmint on mine is NOT as good as oem. wish it was little bit better
brought it to a profesional and he got it to fit best he could.
third brake light doesnt fit whatsover. i mean it does but it doesnt come close to being all the way in and flush so i was told by people on here that you have to dremel the inside or someshit out. bullshit for paying 700+ and having to have to still modify it you have to drill out the latch. and the holes for the reverse lights.
for 700+ all that should already be done
brought it to a profesional and he got it to fit best he could.

What what the oem carbon fiber? Same issues or not as much?

Fitment isn't great. Clear coat that comes on it lasts 6 months maybe. 3rd brake light fits fine if you flip it upside down. As far as the mounting holes and lights being predrilled - you don't want them pre-drilled. This is a hand laid carbon fiber and fiberglass trunk. They all vary slightly because of it. If they drilled the mount holes in advance it probably wouldn't fit your car when you get it. And then you would whine about that instead.

ive seen this trunk in person and while it is a super sexy trunk, the fitment was definately off and that also was after the fact that the guy had it professionally fitted. i have the same opinion on the price vs. out of the box fitment too. just not quite worth it... but worth it.
buy a Fiberglass one and have soem work done to make it fit better. thats the downside to CF vs. the duraflex they sell. a little work around the endges can give you a damn good fitment. and you would need to paint the Duraflex one anyway,
well let me know if you wanna get rid of that high rise!!!!

Bump anyone else that has the tjin trunk has fitment issues im thinking of getting the CF one but then again its alot to not fit properly so im doubting myself if i should get it or just get something else
After reading this, it makes me wonder too. Also was wondering, since the keyhole for the trunk is shaved, how would one get into the trunk if the electrical mechanism fails? The back seat release is in the trunk so that doesn't help. Was thinking of taking the strike plate off one of the seats so I can just pull it down if it ever happens...

For the guys crying about a 700 trunk....... What do you expect? I mean for one it's backed with fiberglass so it's not purely carbon, for 2 it's as good as it's going to get for that price, and for guys complaining I would hate to see you guys see the pricing on stuff from Crawford composites, spectre werks and guys that make a 100% pure carbon near oem fit part. They cost a lot of money and weigh next to nothing. The price on the trunk is as good as gets for the work done on it and for what the product is. You guys couldn't replicate the trunk in your garage for 700 bucks. Most cheaper after market parts have some fitment flaws and what not but it's to be expected on cheaper carbon/fiberglass part. Try spending 1500 on a honeycomb carbon trunk with no spoiler and I bet the fitment it better and works fine but it's double the cost. If it's too expensive for you deal with the high rise, low rise, wingless options or if you feel you can make the wing for cheap go for it.
cf for sure. i have had nothing but issues with duraflex products and i dont recommend them. not to knock a vendor but from personal experience i have fund their carbon is a lot nicer and better then the duraflex stuff

Your probably right ive gone thru body kits like crazy ( atleast rear bumper) and those never line up without work. It would be nice to see a tjin in person tho
I won't even install a duraflex body kit at all anymore unless the customer literally wants it sealed and painted because he can't afford much. They are not worth the headache to make them look nice and the parts have lots of air pockets and waves. I don't expect much from a product that costs 400-500 for an entire kit
