Quick question about butyl tape

I just finished some retros and thought I could get away with just using silicone.. long story short it didn't work. I went to an rv shop and found this butyl tape

My question is... Is this the stuff you guys use? I've heard of so many different types of butyl tape some being black, round and so on. This stuff is sticky but it doesn't harden like the oem sealant.

Should I just get some from trs or hidwerks? Thanks

I ended up using the "oci rubber butyl glue" from trs. Worked great and it's pretty cheap... Haven't had any problems with it.

Sorry I can't give you any advice about the RV butyl glue, but I can say that my trs butyl glue didn't get hard like the oem stuff.

I might just end up getting some from trs. Did you scrape out your oem stuff before you used the oci butyl? Or just put the oci butyl over the oem after heating it back up?

I scraped out the oem stuff before using the oci butyl. You can warm the stuff in the oven and scrape it out. I just used a hot air gun and when the oem stuff got gooey I scraped it out with a flat head screwdriver.

If you order from trs you will get more than enough to do both head lights.
