Racing Seat Question
Racing Seat Question
I want to get some new seats for the balt. Main reason is I hate the neutral interior. Racing seats would solve this problem. However I need to know something before I swap them out. I know most aftermarket seats will have the hardware necessary to move the seat forward and back but do any allow for the height adjustment that is stock on our cars. The reason I ask is that my fiance drives my car at times and she is short so she needs the height adjustment to see over the steering wheel. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
I honestly do not believe there is any system that will change the height for you, but only go forward or backwards. You could have someone make custom brackets for you but that screws the chances for you getting a comfy fit.
i concur with rollermandan, ive never seen an aftermarket racing style seat that offers height adjustment.
gravanatuning.com has several seat products for us cobalt guys. they have some recaro height-adjustable seat sliders and some cobra height-adjustable seat mounts. but it seems to me that for the two of them it would be a pain in the a$$ to adjust the height everytime you or ur gf drive the car. it seems you'd have to unscrew the seats and screw them back into a higher/lower mounting hole. i doubt you will find anything like how our seats adjust with a little lever but i'm sure someone with the right skills can customize one. also i looked on the recaro website and some of the seats have electric adjustments but the only ones i saw are like the recaro seats that come with the g85 package. in case you wanna take a look they are the style and trend type seats under tuning.
Thanks for the information. I checked everything out and it does seem like you would have to remove and remount the seat every time you wanted to adjust the height. The recaro seats are nice as well but im sure they cost a pretty penny and they don't come in the color I want. I want some orange and black seats and I can find them all over the place but none of them offer height adjustment only backrest, forward, and backward. Does anyone know how the height adjustment is made/works on our cars and if it would be possible to modify it to work with aftermarket seats?

I am going to go look and see if the stockers can come off the mounts and still leave the adjustment parts in the car.
the other problem to look at is, all the racing seats I have ever seen are longer on the back support......my seats dont sit very far away from the headliner already....... that could pose a problem s well.

good question...and for my "removing the seat" crap, i never have anyone drive my car except me, it'd be in the highest position it could go all the time(i'm 5'4) lmao, i pull that damn height adjuster till i can pull no more.

like someone said it depends all on the seat i have see some were they have it as a nobe on the side of the seat. The only negative i can say about racing seats is if you a bit big on the width wise its sometimes uncomfrotable. so make sure you get measured for the right seat. The universal ones may be universal but there not on the width.....
