We all believe it is possible, and have been waiting for someone to try it so we can see. I'm guessing you want the round tail light look, right?

It will require custom work with the trunklid and rear quarter panels

The bumper will bolt right up though

the whole trunklid is different as well, on the coupe there is a slight lip, whereas on the sedan theres no lip at all

I was just referring to the rear facia, which should be a direct swap. But I completely forgot that the reverse lights are mounted in the deck lid. I guess that would be important.

ya i think the g5 backl bumper would look better for one... its something that will strike true cobalt lovers eyes b/c those arent in amreica.. and eventually gm will be putting round tailighted sedans out by like 08-09... i already saw one on the hywy

ahh i been wanting to do this myself, but i really really need to compare someone with a coupe and my sedan. I wil tell you that obviously the trunk will need to be swapped out, and then you would need to do some wiring for the rear lights. From what i can gather the bumper for the sedan is actually shorter than the coupe. the coupe has longer sides, than the sedan. Now im not saying it cant work, but I actually think it can work. But i dont have a spare silver SS/SC bumper sitting around, and they seem down right impossible to get to be honest. Plus I would hafta find a trunk and buy that along with the taillights. So when you think about it, it would look really cool and great, but its alot of money and time looking for all the items you would need to make it work, and if it doesnt work the hassle of selling it all.

they are slightly different in length to me, but from the lip i put on the car i can tell you its about a 1.5 to 2 inch difference. which may not be a problem putting it on the sedan actually. plus for whatever reason the reare bumper on the sedan has a hump towards the the rear wheel on the bottom.

and you can obviously see the differences in the trunk

Good thread. I can plainly see now that a direct swap is not possible. Lots of work involved.

the trunk edges are definitely slightly different at the top also, the coupe they're straighter, the sedan is more of an angle which says to me you'd have to work on the tops of the rear quarters.

i bet its more work than its worth... however... im waiting to see somebody put the rear end of a Pontiac Pursuit coupe on the rear end of an SS Coupe. ive been comparing pictures of the two and i think its basically a direct swap. and the pursuit tails look almost identical to the cobalt sedan tails. I actually like the look of the pursuit GT better than the SS Cobalt... but the pursuit doesnt come with the 2.0 SC eco so i think it would be cool to make an SS balt look like the pursuit.

I was told by a GM body guy that the rear bumper and trunk are a direct swap you just have to do some wiring. GM has already done it on there sedan sema car from last year.

See this is why I love this forum, because eveyone is willing to help out. thanks to everyone who gave thier two cents. This actually helped me a lot! Now does anyone know if the ss/sc wing will fit diretly on the ls trunk lid or only on the coupe...if it does then i mite just leave it the way it is, but if it doesnt then i am going to start that body work and see what happens...thanks again.
