I bought black rims with a chrome lip on them a while ago and I was wondering if there is anyway to just remove the chrome lip or paint it black? Any ideas?

get some black pin stripe stuff... or tape off and paint it

 

plastidip!!!! painting chrome is a major PITA unless you bake it off in acid. I know believe me. 10 hours of prep, lots of sanding, self etching primer, base coat, clear, first snow storm = DESTROYED. granted the snow froze so it was like driving through ice.

 

Would I still need to do all that prep work if I was to get plastidip?

 

Is it actually a chrome lip? A lot of those are actually just machined or painted chrome. What rim is it?

^ this, and if you mess up or don't like the looks all you have to do is peel it off! And its cheap

 

Just let your Girlfriend drive it, she'll take care of the lip for ya!

 

They are Mb motorsport wheels, and im not entirely sure if its an actual lip or just polished metal. There is a picture on my page. I'll probably just try plastidip and see how that turns out.

 

Just get some black vinyl pinstripe.
