Personal preference says that either chrome or gunmetal is the way to go. Unless you're into the Knight Rider look, I think black might be overkill. I wouldn't go anywhere near white.

with a black car, anything will look nice as long as the rim is tasteful. I wouldnt go with a too aggressive looking rim but a little more aggressive then the stock SS rims. Maybe some more spokes but thats about it.

Go Chrome. Don't get white rims! I hate that. White rims are so ugly, and cheap looking. Just my opinion.

If you go gunemetal, go with something with a machine lip which will give the car a sweet look and you'll be able to notice the profile of the tire better. I know Motegi and Kazera make gun-metals with machines lips. Check out TireRack.com

I agree with most ot the above posts.
Black rims on a black car is tacky.
black rims on a silver blue red or yellow looks good.
with a black car you want to dray attention to the rims so id say chrome. If you look at the cobalt 272 concept car it has some great looking chrome wheels. i like the 5 spoke look myself. two many spokes and the wheel get to busy in my opinion. and if you do some break work, as i intend to do it you cant see the huge discs and calipers.

I would have to go with chrome on a black car or maybe the gunmetal if it's a lighter colour. I absolutely can't stand white rims except on a very select few modded cars I've seen so that one would definitely be out for me, but it's also not my car .

well mine are gunmetal that might look too dark on a black car so id say chrome, but then you gotta keep em clean or else it looks bad

when i had my red cavalier I had gunmetal rims, damn they looked nice. I had CF tails and tinted windows so everything thing looked really nice on it.

Depending on what else you do to your Cobalt I think Gunmetal would good.
