RK Sport Hood Scoop Progress

First of all, I placed the order for my hood with RK Sport and I received it within 2 weeks, not that bad of wait. The company is really easy to work with as well and is very informative. As for the hood, I went this morning to check the fitment of it. No problems at all, perfect fit, and no adjustments need to be made. When they say "direct bolt-on", they mean it. The hood looks great and should be painted by next Thursday (due to the holiday weekend). Once I get it back I will post some pics as soon as possible.

I won't be able to get some pics until most likely Thursday of this upcoming week. The 4th of July holiday delayed progress of getting the hood painted until then. As for a "How-To", its not even necessary. All that has to be done is pop off the hydraulic pump that hold the hood up while open. Then loosen 4 bolts from the stock hinge to get the hood off. Then just re-attach those same 4 bolts and the pump and your set. I was surprised at how easy and how well it mounted. I'll keep you posted and get some pics once I can.

I got some pics for you guys...I ordered one as well...and just like you said it fit perfectly. Check it out.

The only problem I have is the fact that the hood scoop doesn't do crap for the SS/SC...yeah I guess it "blows" air on the engion but whats the point when the intake is on the other side hidden behind the wheel well.

I think they call it "2.2 Love" It's where they prefer the L61 over the LSJ

Yeah...oh well...its a nice hood...I was mainly going for looks and weight...its worth the money...its built really well...not just some crap thrown together...no need for hood clips unless you are just going for the "look".

Like the hood, but I am not a fan of the mesh.

I went to the body shop (family friend) who is painting my hood since it was finished being painted (not ready to install yet). It looks great and matches perfectly. The "mesh" part is actually more stiffer and sturdier than that, and is currently painted red as well. Until I see the hood on the car, I think it will be getting painted black to match my custom grills. That's the update so far, btw install is Friday morning.

So I am going to ask the question. You can paint Carbon Fiber and it will look like its metal right? Because I was worried about that, having a pattern looking hood, when I want a smooth looking hood as if it was metal.

Yes you can paint carbon fiber. It has a smooth finish on it and all you have to do is scuff it and spray/clear it.

oh hey...one note...don't try and take your hood off alone...you really do need another person to hold it for you ...I was kinda in a rush...did it myself...and yeah...it was all good except trying to get the bolts off the arm that holds it up....you can get the first one out...but the second one is a biotch...I had to tilt my hood forward to get to it from behind...and yeah....it slipped...kinda scrached my paint a little all the way to the metal about an inch long...I tried to "touch it up"...but you know how when you get a blemish on your face...and you feel everyone is strairing at it...and you know its there...but you can't make it go away...that is how I feel right now...its a brand new car...I am pissed at myself!!! cuz now its like my car is ugly :-(

The hood is on and it looks great. It gives a much more agressive look but still follows the cars lines. I just got home from work and I want to wash it and then I will take some pics and see if I can get to my friends house to post them. Keep an eye out for the pics.

i seriously hope you didnt buy it directly from rk , any dealers would saved you a buttload of $$$

their fit is good , dont waste the money on their c/f crap i had 2 for my cav and both had/have more air bubbles than a fish tank with 6 yards of bubble hose

and blame GM on the hood being 2.2 and 2.4 specifc for ram air , since GM only had the 2.2 out first , and the 2.4 mimicks the 2.2

i hate the fact gm put the air intake and all the other crap all on the drivers side , talk about excessive weight over the left front tire , lol

it is a sweet hood that you got , hurry up and post pics
