well if they are functional they create more airflow to help cool your engine but if they are fake they dont do nothing but make your car look stupid, and you will be either called a beaner or a ricer, no offense to any hispanics on here but hispanics in my town dont know **** about fixing a car up lol i seen a camaro that had a universal wing bolted to the factory spoiler lol im like what the hell?

The real functional scoops (rksport and suncoast... im sure there are others) divert cold air directly to your intake

I have the Interceptor hood. So it basically is the RK Sports Ram Air hood, but inverted.

Looks like that hood, except in CF.

Oh, okay, that explains a lot.

So does it make the engine any better? I mean you don't gain any hp, so what does it do for a 4 banger? I am looking for education because I really don't know.

An extractor hood (inverted scoop?) pulls hot air out.... this hood was actully designed really good because its right over the throttlebody/intake pipe, and valve cover area.... Heat builds up under your hood creating a high pressure, and outside of your car is a low pressure...... air always wants to go from high pressure to low pressure to create an equalibreium SP? so the air vents out through the extractor as cool air comes into the grill..... when driving, the rush of air over the extractor pulls more hot as out with it due to a pressure drop also....

hope i helped

p.s. everyone has their own ideas and prefrences... i just feel that an extractor is alot more reasonable in our cars because of how it is designed, unless you get the RK sport scoop.
If your just throwing air into your bay(SS scoop) its going to build up prressure and heat up if anything because it has nowhere to go... mainly it will pack in above the header..... since your gettingplenty of air in through your grill and your cooling fans, the extractor makes more sence because it pulls out the air thats hottest ;leaving u with cooler air..... now the RKS hood dumps right over the intake which makes alot more sence because of a slight ram air effect..... temperatures and "ram air" effects are not going to give you any notacable HP gains but will make your car more efficient

man im tired idk how i typed that rep me? lol
