As soon as I get a spare boot, my gf's going to take it apart and stitch it back together with orange stitching to match the car.

If people want, I'll see if she minds making a pattern and what not so people can make their own.

I have no idea, personally, I'm just buying an OEM replacement, so I know it will fit. Honestly I have never seen any aftermarket ones, well except for on ebay.

Aftermarket shifter boots do indeed fit. I bought a yellow boot from Autozone and it fit like a glove without any modification. However, be careful as the plastic clip that holds the boot in has a weak spot at the botom of the clip. I wouldn't have hurt it, but I had to remove the clip a few more times while I was trying to figure everything out and weakened some of the plastic. The boot is held to the clip with four big staples that are easily removed.

Take out the boot and use lexan! Just cut out the shift pattern in the lexan and you can see through it. I haven't done it but my friend with a 2002 SS camaro did it and it's probably the most original idea I've heard of? He hooked up little red LED lights too to shine up from the bottom.

Maybe instead of lexan use a piece of billit aluminum?
